Does this support regular USB controllers?
I have a very basic plug and play controller from NextThing.co. It's one of those cheap SNES knock off controllers, which do not even use drivers, they just plug in and show up in windows as a "Game Controller".

Sadly, I cannot get Super Jagua to read any of the input. The directional pad is not working and pressing any buttons just gets ignored.

The controller works just fine out of the box for another steam game, On A Roll 3D, which I assume uses standard controller inputs. I just had to configure the button presses, and the pad even read as a joystick input right away. I've also tried the controller on *ahem* certain logical to try emulators *cough* without trouble.

Is there a "magic switch" I need to hit in Super Jagua to get this working?

I'm on a laptop keyboard otherwise, so the game is a bit too fast paced for my soft, squishy laptop inputs. Especally the run and jumps in the first castle, it's very hit and miss if Jagua jumps or thinks the game stopped holding "run button" just before jumping. This makes Jagua (and myself) very sad as the only good runs I can do are with the (randomly distributed) umbrella powerup. :steamfacepalm:

Looks like a fun game for the 18 min I tried out so far. I just hope I can get this working so I can play it "properly". :) Thanks!

Hello! and sorry to hear that :sj_anguished:, I will try with a simillar controller now that steam released support for Generic X-Input controllers and I'll let you know, thank you for reporting this problem :steamhappy:
What DarkGriffin is using is probably a USB HID controller which is not showing up as an XInput controller but as a DirectInput controller. I'm in a similar situation as him.

Once XNA and Xbox 360 controller support for PC showed up in Windows, it seemed like the world went crazy for the new stuff and "conveniently forgot" about all the other controllers out there in the world.

cbritez, you might want to check out [ https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ee417014(v=vs.85).aspx ] depending on how your game/engine is programmed.

Thankfully the era of XNA and XInput is ending as OpenGL and cross-platform gaming are taking over and now more games and applications support controllers in a generic way instead of using XInput.

DarkGriffin, what I would suggest in the meanwhile is to use either AntiMicro [ https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro/releases ] (which maps gamepad button presses to keyboard key presses) or Xbox 360 Controller Emulator [ https://github.com/x360ce/x360ce ] (which maps generic USB controllers to emulate a 360 controller).

Just want to reply to confirm that yes indeed, my cheap linux and ouya friendly usb super nes style controller is in fact not Xinput compatable. :p I'll give x360ce a go next time I play. I do always prefer when the game runs with native support, since my laptop is very low memory. I don't think that will become an issue on Super Jagua though. ;)

Hope you can figure out a way to get all controller types working cbritez! As a dev myself I know first hand some of the pain different game engines bring in this regard. Good luck!
