What's up with "The Frostrune 2" in Google Play Store?

So I just stumbled upon a free game called "The Frostrune 2" in the Google Play Store and I am a bit confused by it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grimnir.frostrunethe

1. Why is it called "The Frostrune 2"? Judging by the description and the screenshots it seems to be identical with the "first part"?

2. Why is it free? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind getting games for free, but usually when this happens, there is some economical reason behind it (getting money throug ads, episodic content that isn't free, some giveaway to boost sales for something else, etc.). Seeing a full singleplayer game for free without ads or other limitations just makes me cautious.

3. Why does a singleplayer point&click adventure need permission to access my location? I get that it may need permission to access the phones storage for save games (That is all you are doing with that permission, right?), but my location? Why? This just makes me even more cautious.

Could any developer or publisher please explain what the deal with this is?

Google always tracks us - if we use Android, Google knows where we are, even if we don't want to be tracked.

I would love to hear an explanation too, I've installed it on my phone after seeing in the reviews it seems to be made for phones and I'm looking for some singleplayer games to pass time on an 9h plane trip. It was a bit weird to find out it was free for Android and has no advertisement in it, no ingame content to buy or any obvious way to monetize this game on Android.

May sound weird to complain about it but I'm just a bit suspicious, since if it sounds too good to be true...
I really would like to know what files on my phone this game accesses and why on earth this game needs to know my location. The first one I also assume it is for game saves but the 2nd permission?

If the game is good I'll gladly buy the game on steam just to support the devs but would like some clarification on the Android version.

small edit: I'm talking about the same frostrune as TS, but for me it says 'The Frostrune' and not 'The Frostrune 2' to make things even weirder.
