[spoilers] Ending?
I found all the items, met the three characters and unlocked the background information in the menu... is that it? I was really enjoying the game up until this point, but the lack of a proper ending is disappointing. Did I miss anything?

What do you mean by "proper ending"? It seems fitting, to me. You've never really had an objective from the start.

Then again, I've just "finished" the game, although I have a couple of different things to explore for myself, so there may be something else?

I share your disappointment of a proper ending (a credits roll or something so at least we know we've done all we could). But the story does say they are stuck there indefinitely, so I think it's a fitting ending. Or maybe there are still things to find out.. I've had my fun with it, but I'm not gonna look around aimlessly though.

Well fun while it lasted

It seems the ending appears when you find the 4th (hidden) character

@LvK-FR and where do you find this hidden character? Any hints?

I didn't find it, refer to the discussion on this forum

Apparently, this game is loosely based on the last expidition of Percival Harrison Fawcett, his son, and a friend of him. I looked over the wikipedia article, but found no real clues that would lead to some conclusive ending. It's interesting though. As for a hidden character, I'm sceptical, since the person claiming it exists can't provide anything besides the claim. No details or screenshots.

I as well found the hidden character Baak before I even found the Fawcetts and Rimmel. To find the hidden character you have to search on a different map than the one that you find the three main characters (though I do not remember which one).

But they're in every map. By "map" you mean the different color palettes you can select, right?

I wonder if it becomes impossible to find Baak if you've found the others. Like, when you do that and "win", it escapes.
Or maybe it's only visible if you don't have the final mode active? I wish those who had seen it would give more detail about the state of the machine when it was visible.

I ran into Baak near the beginning of my experience, long before I had completed any of the structures discovered through frequencies. My viewer was zoomed all the way in, I followed him for a bit and noticed that he vanished from the map when I zoomed out even a little bit, and appeared again when I was zoomed in..

I took a screenshot of what he said to me at the time, but not what he looks like on the map.

EDIT: Just found them again! http://i.imgur.com/OtsGTiJ.png

R.R. Black Circle with White Dot
J.F. Blue Circle with White Dot
P.H.F. Orange Circle with White Dot
Your Cursor. White Circle with Black Dot
Baak. Completely White Circle

Also, after completing the game I was able to click "Origin" in the escape menu for some additional information, the three circles next to it had been filled in with black dots, making it accessible.

Well it's nice to have more detailed confirmation, but I still couldn't find the dang thing. Since it only shows up when fully zoomed in which means you can't move around very quickly *and* you can only see a tiny area relative to the full map, you're probably only going to find it via blind luck.

I felt that way too, wanting a "true ending" or something like that. Also, I was hoping to unlock a true map, where one could see the trees, water, the "real world" the characters were seeing. :steamsad:
