What happened to the devs?
I played this game around launch and beat it. As cool as the concept was I feel like the ball was fumbled really hard and I still see its last update was basically 5 years ago just a few months after the game dropped which is insane to think about. Did the devs abandon the game or lose funds? I'm just genuinely curious because I don't know much about the developers and their team but it's just sad to see this game left forgotten and alone.

seems each game severely dropped in quality because the devs didnt know exactly what they wanted their games to be
lucius 1 was a fully linear storybased horror
lucius 2 was a full sandbox open area horror
lucius 3 is a mix of the two

I totally agree but even so the 3rd game needs a lot of working on in regards to glitches and gameplay fixes and it seems like after the first month this game got nothing after. It's sad to see

Little necro😁. But it seems Shiver Games is no more, all of their accounts on social media are dead (Twitter last post on 2018, Facebook on 2020). Devs on these forums dont show up since 2020. Their site seems completely abandoned as well. No doubt the poor sales of Lucius III was to blame for this situation. It's sad, but it is what it is.

Yeah they def are gone then, I know they weren't a big company but still what a shame. Would've been nice if they at least polished the game before just going away but yeah it is what it is.

Honestly a shame, lucius 1 was an amazing game, they should have kept the formula the same

Yeah first one really was promising in terms of a game series

My usual thoughts based what I played of the second game, even if it is still kind of decent, but more focused on real-time action and mishaps. To this day, I hesitate to even get into the third game, even for $1. Maybe it's not that bad, but I don't know if I want to spend time on it just yet. The reviews I read and stories about development teams actually was some of the impact of delay for me.

I enjoyed the exploration style and mystery of the original game. I like the free roaming aspect and visuals that affect the environment. They should've expanded on that formula by allowing for multiple ways to kill a target, but keep the same kind of free roam area like the first game, and have it impact the story with how the target was killed. All that had to be done was to pick a number of new settings, such as a large foster home, and a connected neighborhood. From what I have seen, Lucius III sort of appears to have gone that way, but it's hard to tell what I am fully missing until I play it. They took the free roaming to the next level, and I like the look of that. It appears somewhat like I would expect of a more ambitious title with more freedom. Not that I fully follow everything I find, I can't remember enough specific complaints that cautioned me before purchasing the game for $1-$2. There were complaints of the game feeling unfinished with bugs and performance issues.

The first game was quite bugged as well, but worked for what it was. However, I would've been fine if the third game had just chose a new setting where Lucius would kill and ruin lives just like he was led to do in the first game in that home-based environment. Graphically, the first game still appears quite detailed for its time. It still has a neat look and feel. It's straightforward and encourages exploring for the items needed to take out a target, and then each kill impacts the story. The cutscenes and story of the second game did not catch my attention well, but the gameplay did allow for more creativity in how deaths were done, but the environments and nature of causing deaths made it seem like a totally different game.

Yeah honestly the game feels very unfinished and in terms of graphics I remember it being really pixelated and almost low res. I also remember a main mission having a game breaking bug and the only way to fix it was to restart the mission or close your game but it wasn't guaranteed it'd work the first time, so you'd have to restart more than once depending your luck. The idea of the game is good and killing is fun but the world feels bland and boring and very buggy, and I don't see this game going on sales much so honestly unless you find this game for a literal dollar I'd say skip it.

I always find it for $1-$2 through IsThereAnyDeal. I was tempted many times and for whatever reason, I just never end up getting it. lol
