Frequency Puzzle
Im in the lower half of the game and down there is a puzzle with 5 crystals, each needs to vibrate at a set freqeuncy to open the doors. There is a board with triangle waves that im guessing match the sound the crystal makes. However, every combination Ive tried failed to open them. Has anyone gotten this far?

Yes, I passed it without too much difficulties. The red monitor defines where you have to input the wave number of each crystal ... however, you need to press a button in the end, maybe you missed that? It's sort of behind you when entering the waver numbers.

one of my crystals I didnt visualize to well. Waves 3 and 4 were a bit hard for me to tell apart some how. Its solved

I also had dificulty with this one because the double crystal (target one dot) sounds a LOT more like wave 6 than wave 4. To me anyway.

The sound from the double crystal seems to have two distinct tones, rather than a single repeating tone. Therefore wave 6 seems like a better match to me.

I left this area thinking that this may actually be a bug.
If a dev sees this, can you please confirm this is working as intended?

Hey guys! Here is the waveform of wave4: http://imgur.com/ROFpikz
The pictures do not represent tonality, they only represent the volume envelopes/waveforms of each sound.

Alright. Fair enough. Thanks for the confirmation.

I also thought it was 6 instead of 4, but knew it was one or the other.

I'm confirming the trouble of differentiating waveforms 6 and 4. I was stuck here for a little bit. I was absolutely confident that the crystal represented by one dot (crystal 'A') was indeed waveform 6. After having double- and triple-confirmed all of the settings to the best of my ability, I saw no other option than to start brute-forcing the settings in desperation. Luckily, I started with that crystal and found that setting it to 4 solved my problems immediately.

Hey guys! I made the sound version of symbol6! In the audio below you can hear wave4 (which is in the game) - wave6 - wave4 - wave6. I ripped the hint in original quality so you can take a closer look while listening! http://imgur.com/a/IQMRS

and sorry for sharing on zippy it has some annoying ads, but it shows the waveform and I found it may come in handy :))

Hearing the two waveforms played in sequence helps remarkably with differentiating them! But as waveform six, and the other two unused ones, are not used in the crystals presented, I don't think we had the ability to hear them for comparison in the game.

After having discovered the real solution, though, I question how I didn't at least consider the possibility that the very similar other waveform could be appropriate as well. :)

Congrats on shipping a fantastic game, by the way!

Thanks again for the info, Pharaoh.

But you see, the issue here is the human brain doesn't come equipped with a perfect waveform generator. We can't easily separate tonal readings from volume. At least not in this case.

If this puzzle featured a machine that printed out the waveform and then we had to compare them with a chart, everything would be fine.

But we don't.
All we have is the intrepretation of the sound that our brain can manage to generate.
And according to that interpretation, the sound from the double crystal sounds a lot more like wave 6...

And in the case of this particular puzzle, that's really bad, because this puzzle doesn't give any feedback whatsoever on whether we are in the right track or not.

So how to fix this?
I think the simplest fix would be open wave4 in audacity or something, remove the second part, and copy the first part to it's place. So that both parts have the exact same volume and tone.
Another solution would be to take drawing 6 and flip it over a vertical axis. That way it would look more distinct from drawing 4. But in that case it may become too similar to drawing 8...

Good idea André! So how about this? http://www75.zippyshare.com/v/IefuzSVX/file.html

Yes! That would be a perfect match for drawing 4! Both parts sound the same in tone and volume.
WITIDE Dec 2, 2016 @ 4:42am
I must agree! That new audio strongly disambiguates the two sounds. :)

soo lets swap the sounds :) thank you guys for the input!
