Advice for older people
I just finished and was rather underwhelmed with this game. I'm an original Baby Boomer. We learned logic and common sense. This game has neither. If you're a Boomer, I suggest you print out a walkthrough for playing (you will get lost and have no idea what to do next), bookmark a youTube visual walkthrough (for when the printed walkthrough gets you no where) and play this game with a Millennial. They probably think like the creators and can help you when you try to use logic and get lost. Most of the time I was playing this game, I would solve a puzzle and there would be no clue at all as to what to do next. The only positive I would give this game is the graphics. VERY GOOD. Both endings sucked with no satisfaction and you just end up in the library wandering around in a daze.

I agree, no clue what to do next without a walkthru. Sometimes I ask questions here and get help.

Thanks, I thought I would be the only one who thinks like this. I just finished a Vice HBO special. Techies in India. WOW, are they brilliant. But as an old curmegon, I want to know, "Do they know how to THINK?" Or do they have to go to an iPhone or PDA to get answers. I don't. I learned by my mistakes, "Don't do that again!" I found out you don't stick a knife blade into a wall socket. Only did it once!! Do Millinnials really know how to THINK?

Does putting two and two together count? If I've been told that getting struck by lightning hurts, a wall socket produces electricity, and metal conducts heat, I worked out that those things don't mix without having to try. Does that mean we've evolved since? (btw, I'm shy off being a millenial, so does that mean millenials are even smarter?)

Im old and enjoy some of the games, but I need extra help. I didn't know what AWSD meant. or that E ususally ets you pick things up. So everythng is twice as hard. I also tend to wander around too much wasting time, thinking too deep.

Considering buying this game, but I'm not sure. Many comments and reviews say you constantly need a walkthrough CONSTANTLY, which to me suggests the game is not intuitive or logical (if it were, you probably won't need a walkthrough constantly).....

Can't decide to buy or not.....

Not sure what to tell you davidyat, except maybe your logic skills aren't exactly as good as you think they are.

I play a fair amount of puzzle games, but even so I found Quern incredibly easy compared to most. This game gives you so many clues on how to proceed, but everything is so obvious from context that I usually found the next step forward before I even noticed the clue.

I'll admit that I looked at a guide once because I didn't notice that the alchemy lab had a second floor. But apart from that it was smooth sailing.

You definitely do NOT need a walkthrough. I required aid for 1 puzzle, and I think that was simply due to trying to complete it at 4 AM. OP's statements are honesly a little ridiculous. I got a good chuckle out of this.

I enjoyed this game so much that stayed up through the night and completed it in one 16 hour play session. I could not put it down.

Comments are doubtful as it says "I required aid for 1 puzzle". So far only 1 person thinks they can do this and they needed aid so they actually couldnt. Proves the point of the original author.
This is common lazy programming now. It seems like the programmers are not taught logic anymore as they use built in processes to produce games that self compile.
I pity the modern community as common sense is not not that common

And again "Im so smart" Quern is so easy I blundered into the next step before I finished the first one as i couldnt find the clue. Once again needed a guide and confirms the original author.

Adding two plus two does count if you dont google it. Just shows your not willing to go against the rules and try to see if everything they tell you is actually the truth. Now have i got a deal for you its a one owner and an old lady only used it once to go to church!!

t3opc in right. I'm before even boomers and started with Pong game and a Dos machine I built. I'm not through my Quern as of yet due to controller issues at present, so I can't say much about it other than the puzzles seem somewhat disconnected in that I'm guessing some need to be solved before the others can be done. Example: Key in a crystal and a sledge hammer, yet the sledge hammer is not an active item and so I'm guess it will be at some point. Look, games are suppose to be challenging fun and when they don't follow a logical progressive pattern we call them really hard! LOL I've never used a walk through with the exception of OBDUCTION which I knew had a programmed puzzle glitch preventing me from the puzzle solve. Tech supprt appologized for it though. All I want in a game is that it works right.
