Impossible!!!!!
I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! Nobody solved all this ♥♥♥♥ own their own, it's impossible, there's no feedback that anything you do does anything. Find this, click that...nothing happened...Oh but maybe something happened somwhere else that you don't know about and if you happen to notice something is different when roaming past it later it still doesn't matter cause you can't use it or do anything with it until you do 7 other things that give no feedback on whether something happened or not.
Anyone claiming to have solved this whole game on their own is just a liar! Someone knew the devs and got a guide or something and that has been passed down through the community.

Hey KatieKaz! We did our best to explain how each puzzle works using the game world as our narrative. There are small clues everywhere that should point you in the right direction. The game definitely needs the player to be observant and patient, there is not much handholding involved. If you have any particular puzzle or mechanic that you would like to hear the explanation for, I am always here to help!

There is a guy who did a great blind playthrough of the game (meaning that it was his first time playing and he knew nothing about the game when he started playing), Afterwork Gaming. You can watch his playthrough on this link, he does a great job at explaining how he came to the solutions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqFA8TNzg4E&list=PLp-53ctuezBI23UdZfL48tBcGMESkNqxD

I recommend watching his videos until you catch up to your current progress, and hopefully something will just "click" and give you the right mindset when playing the game.

Good luck!

I just got a pen and paper and used the sketch feature and did it all myself. Its not impossible... people want to complain about having no logic, but the reason why i finished this great game was because IT HAS LOGIC to all if its puzzles. I was able to figure out how the puzzles worked, and you can too!

I don't think the game is particularly hard. It's true, at one step I needed a clue... and when I found it I realized, the next step was something I really should have thought of, in fact I was pretty close. I've been stuck two or three times, only once I became frustrated (and found the clue mentioned).

I guess the Myst franchise ain't for you then as well and that is even harder. I remember playing Myst III: Exile (still have that one in the original big box with j'nanin as cover) and was searching that wall there at j'nanin all the time for that one clue. Eventually found it. Games like Myst, Schizm and this one require time and patience. If that isn't your thing but you do like adventure, then i suggest Siberia or The Longest Journey instead.

Much of the game is average to easy difficulty with a few VERY large spikes in difficulty. Some of the more frustrating puzzles involve hunting for symbols or noticing things that are hard to notice.

As long as you keep your eyes open and sketch everything that sketch everything that looks important but isn't useful right now, you'll breeze through the game.

I only had to minor parts where I was stuck - for me (while I noticed the green crystal earlier) - I did miss the portal to above the laboratory.

The second thing was that you needed to use the white torch with the "telescope" to power the sensor on the wall as you did with the orange torch.

This second hickup was, because this one was not logical in any way or form - unless I missed something earlier in the game - aside from that the puzzles are all challenging, but if you played trough any Professor Layton game previously, they should not be too challenging.

Becoming stuck for a day or two and stumbling upon the solution days later is part of the fun imo.

On a sidenote - how does one use the notebook? I tended to use screenshots, but I am sure it would somehow been possible with ingame-tools (notebook) as well.

I agree with most of what what mentioned above. One needs a tremendous amount of patience, perseverance, and the ability to delay gratification. I got stuck for two days once and one day twice. The two-day delay in progress was needing to use the white torch to power the sensor on the side of the cliff, the first one-day delay was missing the portal to the area above the laboratory, and the second one-day delay was a result of overthinking the puzzle in the Underwater Hideaway.

I didn't use any on-line walkthroughs or hints and was able to complete the game on my own...

Overall, great game. Wonderful ending, and I hope a sequel gets made soon!

I just have finished the game and I can proudly say that I didn't need a solution/walkthrough whatever for it. Consider me a liar if you want. ;-)

Anyhow, I have to say that I have played all parts of the Myst series so I'm not new to genre. And I cannot say that I could solve all the puzzles easily. There were some situations where I was lost for about half an hour and nearly broke my codex of not looking things up on the internet....

But it's always the same: I had again a close look at everything, thought things over and finally got it! In two situations I even quit the game and on the next day, with a fresh brain, I suddenly found the solution. Sometimes you really feel stupid afterward, e.g. in the Alchemy lab I just didn't recognize the music sequence painted on the wall....

But I admit that for some riddles you really need some skill in logical thinking and at least some basic knowledge of Math and Combinatorics (e.g. the Mastermind riddle in the underground cave).

Anyhow, the riddles in this game are definitely not unfair and not harder than in the Myst series. I would say they are on one level with Myst III or IV. But far away from the brutal, insane riddles of Myst II (Riven).

There were too little help and handholding in the game for me so I uninstalled it.. Had to watch too many videos and thats not my aim for a game

Yeah I finished this playing with my kid, and have found all but one secrets, and haven't searched for any hints or guides or anything.

Well not me! I agree with the OP...saw nothing in game that led me what to do next. Afterwork Gaming walkthrough is just an example of a game genius. TBH Riven and Myst were actually easier! Glad I only paid 6 bucks for this!
I just beat the game in 30 hours on my own with no hints. It was perfectly logical. Name one thing that is illogical.

Never said it was illogical. Just need more clues on what to do next...

Like what moment did you suddenly not know what to do? You need to explore and do an inventory of what you do know and what problems are set before you.
