Since I've been playing ZE 1 and 2 for years, I've mastered the game by myself and with a friend. So I'll give some tips. I'll avoid some tips until people have been playing awhile. I am referring to advanced tips that basically let you master certain levels and what not.

1. So for starters if its your first time playing, start out with the guy that has the bacon slicer weapon or the bow and arrow woman. Use all three upgrades on them. This won't get you super far in the game. But it will help you save some money the first few waves.

2. Some of the "weird" weapons can be powerful, don't take their silly nature for granted. Such as the "Card Shuffled". Sounds silly but give it a shot and you will see why.

3. Turrets are great for the start when you get to them. As are certain minions. But remember you can only have two at a time out. So for example if you have two minions, you can't use your turrets. But if you want to use your turret anyways, it will destroy a minion. Hence two things at a time. This applies to totems too.

4. If your going to play with others, make sure to buy the totems (damage, health...etc). They do make a difference. But totems come with a ammo cost to use.

5. Get to know the layout of the levels. Some weapons work better on certain levels. Same goes for if you are playing with others.

6. Also remember the level layout and how certain enemies will work on it. Such as if an enemy can move through a wall.

7. Try to remember what ammo you need most. If you don't think you have enough after a round (after picking up ammo/money...etc) buy some. You don't want to be caught without ammo because you will die fast.

8. Its best to run towards items that drop because they will pull towards you if close enough. Especially with money being the most needed.

9. Whether you beat the game or die, you get Z tokens. You get them based on various factors. These are good for new characters and hats. New characters have new stats and new unique weapons. The hats give you stat boosts/deductions.

10. Stats. Everything has stats in the game from weapons to characters...etc. So when you pick someone look at their stats, then choose hat accordingly (if you bought hats). And look at weapon stats. If you play RPG you know what I am talking about.

11. If you die don't get upset. Experiment with everything and see what you like best. Especially when playing with others. Such as if someone wants to tank with a sword and what not, don't use a sword to, use another type of weapon.

13. You can only carry so many health packs. So remember to heal up all the time so you can pick up more as you kill enemies.

14. Play with a controller if your having a hard time remembering all the buttons for a keyboard and mouse. Though the mouse does give you better accuracy when aiming.

15. Use your upgrade tokens on your weapons after a wave. You can upgrade a weapon three times (well most weapons).

16. The game does use "elements". So maybe you have a weapon you really enjoy, but some enemies may not even be affected by it. For example if your facing a ice enemy, use a fire weapon.

17. Look at all the hats you can unlock and choose the one that you think fits your play style better. For example if your playing with others and you like being a healer, pick a hat that gives you additional healing befits.

18. Try to keep track of what uses what ammo. For example if you use a shotgun shell weapon and have a minion/totem...etc that uses shotgun shells, you will run out fast.

19. Try to have a melee weapon on you at all times in case you run out of ammo. It just may save your life. And obviously make sure you upgrade that weapon too.

20. The most expensive weapons are great but also use the most ammo. So its a good idea after you use them to rush in and pick up any ammo for them to reload them.

21. Communicate with the players (if playing online) so everyone knows whos doing what, using what and so on so you can make a battle plan. Be prepared though since the enemies are different all the time.

22. Don't get frustrated if you don't get far on Unlimited Waves. You really have to be good to get farther in. My record (for the Xbox 360 version) was wave 29 with just myself and my friend.

Smiley + upgraded weapon for a few rounds until I can afford the Plant Launcher
Then farm money with those and buy the Card Shuffler + upgrades
Then when I have enough money I buy the Mega Robot
