But so far I haven't found anything obviously pointing to p2w either. Trading/smuggling is a decent way to get income. Which is better then fighting and capturing ships, they barely worth all the trouble to capture them. This is just a bad balance but nothing to do with p2w.
No, you can not unlock fort, church, brothel and casino without donate. But they are not critical. You'll get bored visiting your bases anyway...

Well I was more interrested in the fort as that was one that bothered me the most by its description as it points out that there could have happened raids against your bases. Good to know that is not the case yet.

But when they implement base raiding I hope they let us unlock forts through ingame means as well. And it will make bases more usefull later instead of just a gold generating mechanic.

There are base raids. And they happen way too often when you have 5 or more bases. But at elast they give tons of exp when you fight them off^^

Ok so they are there, and even if forts are useless probably they can help out in those situations.

Meaning you just told me there is a p2w element to this game, and perhaps should be adressed.

Forts just look cool, nothing else :D
So again no p2w here

So that means the tooltips is fully wrong then and they don't fire?

Because if they do fire on the raiding ships up to 50% of the cannonballs made by the forge like the tooltip says, it is a pay to win aspect. As those forts can help you out in those fights and even mean victory or loss, even if they are crappy accuracy. And this a bonus you don't have if you don't pay.

Thats not true. You may finish the game without paying. Shop has only extras -not needed to finish the game. All ship classes are availabe by without paying - they unlocks as your game progress.

If that is the case why EVERYONE saying you get ganked player ships, against over oped pirates so we spend money? That's what it sounds like so enouigh with the BS devs

It's not pay to win. The Buyable ships are actually ♥♥♥♥ in my opinion. And it can't really be pay2win as the ships are all very different. Trading is easy cash, quite OP in my opinion. In half an hour you can easily get 10k gold. You need a fast ship, upgrade capability, buy alot of explosive barrels and you're fine to go.

not pay2win becuase i played and got now like 3 , second rate ship of the lines and the only thing i payed for was more building options and more towns so i could raid them
