Combat with more than 1 ship?
Hello, first, i tried to search for a message to get an answer so, i am sorry if it as been talk about and surely someone sould have asked because it is important i think.

So my question is: How can i controll more than 1 ship in combat? I had 2 ship when i got attacked and my other ship was doing absolutly Nothing and i dont see how i can try to control 2 ships at the same time? There is no captain you can hire to control the ship with you? I know you can send your ship away to make money but in your fleet, how to control them? Thx!

There is a button for it in the upper right corner, below the status of your ship, click that and you will see the ships that you can control and the different options for them.

Ok thx, i will try. Everytime im attacked by a ship, i loose... It seems than i dont hit them or i dont damage them compare to the damage i receive... Normally, my boat sink and i made 10% damage even if i fired more than 10 times and my damage is boosted... I have 16 canons... I shoot too far or not far enough... Is there a way to adjust how far you shoot or it is automatic?
Thx!

How big was the ship you fought? Bigger ships normally can take more damage, have more gun so it may seem that you do not make damage.
Also damage drops with distance - if you are shot from short range and fire back from long one, you do less damage.

And well, yes, sometimes it seems that there is some strange magic in behind - you do a full salvo from point blank range or even with double balls and you do a little damage. I sometimes even switched to regular balls as weaker opponent was doing more damage to me than vice versa.

Maybe if you loose your fights its a sign that fighting is not a good idea?
Just saying. Ever considered running?

Hello, Something i have seen is you seems to have the good distance using the good weapon. example, using anything when you are like 2 to 20 foot from him will never hit him or really few will hit. BUT, for him, he hit for full when at that distance (0 to 20 foot). With ball, if you shoot too close, it go on the other side of the ship far in the sea. So now, i adjust the distance to the distance we see for each different "ball". Each different "ball" have a max distance and that when i do it that way, i seem to hit a lot more than from close combat (maybe that way i do less damage because they are far?????). Anyway, all i have written was to know if there is a way to adjust manually the distance when we shoot. Other boat seems to hit way more than i hit for the same size boat.

Also, capturing ship seems pretty hard, i try to kill the crew but since i hit them like a sissy, it takes way too many shot to kill them all, there is always another boat coming to help them... I must say since i have written the first message, everything go a bit better. I have 2 ships who gave me money every week. I am using the guide to make money so i dont raise a lot my boat skill, i go for raising $$$ skills for now so thats maybe why i suck fighting so now, im fleeing, my boat is fast enough and if not fast enough, i destroy their speed (it is easy when you have some advance on them).

I really enjoy the game (even if i sux for now) and will try to find something to buy with real cash to encourage game like this one. i really love Zombie Defense too who seems to have been done by the same peoples and you should try it if not already done.

Thx for all your info guys, i cant wait to have a VERY fast boat and 3 first class ship or more lol waiting for me to bring ships to them :) haha!

With ball any shot you do the same ammount of damage no matter the distance (I think) and sadly there is no option to adjust the elevation to change where your shots are going to hit, also the tilting of the ship will also afect your shots.
About capturing a ship, have you tried shooting it with cannon ball before you shoot it with grape shot? For the grape shot to be effective the ship needs to be damaged,so it is better to reduce the side strength of a ship to about half then use the grape shot.
Proutos Jul 28, 2017 @ 9:42am
Hello, for the grape shot, yes, i always wait for the ship to have more than 50% damage before shooting grape. For tiling, what do you mean? My English is not very good and when i search in dictionnary, it doesnt helped me at all :) . Do you mean when the boat is not at vertical but at some degree because of the Wind - wave?

The last 2 ship i tried to capture, they were lot smaller than mine and when i used grape for the 2-3 time, the boat burned and sinked....

Another thing completly but completly illogical, is the price you are selling the ship. When you sell a ship 100 gold and it costed you 150 to repair yours, it sux... 100 gold is not the price of 1 amelioration on a ship, that is ridiculous. The price for amelioration is too high or the price you are selling the boat is too low. ANyway, there is Something wrong lol.

Yes by tilting I mean when a ship moves to one side or the other because of wind,I don't know how much waves make a difference in this game.
About that ship that burnt and sank, was it a pirate ship? because you can't capture pirate ships, their crew will always sink them if you manage if you capture it.
About the ship selling, when you capture a ship and want to sell it just sell it even if it's damaged and don't waste money on repairs if you're not going to use the ship.
Proutos Jul 28, 2017 @ 1:28pm
Ok thx for the info. Yes it was pirate ship both time it happened so now i know why and it doesnt Worth to Attack a pirate :) .

It takes some practice to get the AI to fight for you effectively. Open World is where I get the best opportunities to practice. One problem I haven't read about is how slowly your other ships respond to the Follow me command. I usually have to take direct control of any ship that has an enemy bearing down on it and get it moving before it's too late. Your fleet responds a lot faster to the Evade Enemy command, but their fight path needs to be watched in case it is not smart. It's kind-of like a disperse convoy order when a WWII surface raider appears. You need to follow it up with a Follow me once the ducklings are. Out of harms way.

Probably my most effective use of the Attack Enemy command was using two Corvettes to pummel a capital ship. I switched back and forth between my ships
starting a turn away as soon as I fired , giving each time to reload while I directed the other.

Another trick I discovered after practicing a while is selectively directing one or two ships after issuing an all fleet command. For example:
Attack Enemy with Chain Shot issued at the top of the window, followed by Evade Enemy directed to an individual flute, down below.

Hello and thx :) . I am a LOT better than i was at fighting now. I have a steam corvette not sure the English name and many corvette not sure for the English name too but it is the same than steam corvette without steam lol. They have more canons too. The fight with many ships are a pain because they are a nuisance or each other but i need it in open sea because there is many ships everywhere. For the mission, i go solo for now but i am at the mission i need to arrack Porto Rico. I have no idea if a corvette is big enough to do it. I will give a try a bit later and see :) .
leheureux Aug 1, 2017 @ 8:49pm
Ahoy Proutos! The corvette is my go to ship for nearly all fighting. Good crew size, pretty tough design, fast and plenty of guns and tonnage for everything but cargo, for which I take along another ship. The only limitation I can see taking a port with one is whether you'd run out of shot by the time you eliminate the defending fleet especially if it's a big port/fleet. Two corvettes can surely do it. Or a corvette with another ship to resupply it. Just order the supply ship to evade enemy and engage enemy with corvette. Order supply ship to anchor once it's safely on the horizon. Then go get extra shot, planks, sailcloth, crew or whatever when you have need it. As a bonus the supply ship can scoop up cargo once you neutralize the enemy fleet.

Hello, now i have 4 Man of War and absolutly Nothing can resist. I could sink 12 first rank with that. Anyway, you can destroy almost everything if you have a mortar. I have done all the mission of the game using a corvette and a mortar even if i had 3 first rank a second and another anything boat. Mortar is the name of the game lol. It is a bit cheated i should say But i could not capture a big boat with a corvette because going to try to kill the crew is almost impossible or impossible. Now i try to get the ruby who is a pain because only 1/day.

Oh and BTW, anyone have tried the other boat game from steam called Tempest? The game look a LOT like this one but not free. I put it in my favorite so when the price will go down, i will try it. There is one from Warhammer too but it is more different than this one.
