The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt

The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt

I'm in need of some help
So before I realise I screwed myself over in this game before I even began,

I have no idea how to play this and just started off right away like everyone does with games and just followed what seemed to be the smartest, I haven't figured out in any way how to possibly make money without ending on 0 every time I repair and have to pay the crew. all I could think of. was that I couldn't trade enough items. because I didn't have the space to do so.

So what does every newbie do when they join a game and they notice things that you get extra stuff.. well ofcourse buy a bigger ship :D!

SOOOooOOOOoooo ending up I'm stuck with a HMS victory 1st-rate and a Esperanza war galleon.

still don't have a clue how to play this game and I surely don't have a clue how to fix this next to selling both of em and starting from scratch again to make sure I follow the right steps this time.

so yes you can say I am in need of a bit of help.. if anyone can tell me how to fix this I'd be very happy to accept your help and I do spend time into making it work.

if the experienced people in this game blank out tell me I messed up and shouldn't have done that and just start from scratch... yea I got ya man read 5-10posts now and they all say the same thing about not getting a 1st-rate ship without being able to make 100k .... hah :D

Now I would appreciate if I could keep the ship tho it looks bad*ss

Well howdy
Greetings,
Dutchy~

PS: I literally don't have any gold

Well you could use your ships to go capture bases and make 5k to pay for your crew. I have 4 1st rates and the crew costs 2k each time but i use one 1st rate to go to bases and raid or you could go out to the open world and capture ships sell the cargo on them and then sell the ship.

You can also make a forge and sell the cannonballs it produces. I.E. 1 cannonball = 1 gold, so if you sell 1000 cannonballs you get 1000 gold. If you need more advice let us know!

To both of you, I.. euhm yea you're gonna have to explain me how, I literally don't have gold, nor do I have any ammo, nor do I have any upgrades... I don't have a clue what's going on that's the main problem..

I can't capture bases because my ship isn't able to do that, so far I'm aware I need gold to upgrade that and that's what I don't have,

Same with the make a forge part.. you need gold for that.. I think? as far as I know

You could take your 1st rate and go ram ships till they sink and then sell what they have on them

First step is to put Victory on a "matnance crew". This will cut the salary you pay down drastically, and with a matnance crew onboard your ship will not deteriorate from sitting idle. (you can bring her out of mothballs when you have yourself better established).

DO NOT JUST DISMISS the crew, use the TRANSFER Icon in the ship interface in port (two boxes with arrows) to transfer as many as you can hold to your Galleon. Then go to the Crew interface for Victory and dismiss crew until you have the minimum matnance crew. This prevents Victory from deteriorating while not in use but also keeps you from paying her enormous crew salary and ammo bills. You should also at this point have a max crew on your Galleon as it holds less than the minimum for Victory IIRC.

From here there you may need to hit the shop as you need one of two specific skills to bootstrap back from no gold and no ammo. So unless you happen to already have those skills or an unspent skill point you'll need to buy something. The chests are probably the best choice as they give gold, skill points, and repair kits thereby solving pretty much all your immediate problems.

Skills you need are Corsair, and/or Ferryman. If you have a third skill point take Skilfiert (Sp?) It's the one that lowers crew costs.

Corsair:
Lets you capture ships by just sailing up to them and boarding rather than shooting them with grape until they surrender. With a fully crewed War Galleon you should be able to capture pretty much anything if you haven't bought any maps (if you have check to make sure the ship you're after is smaller than you before boarding).

Once you have a prize take it to any 4 star port you can make, transfer the crew and ammo to your Galleon and sell the rest. Eventually when you have positive cash flow you will want to send the prize on Corsair Adventures (the globe), as that makes more money but it is not instant and it requires investment in more crew so it's a bad move while you're flat broke.

Ferryman:
Opens up non-combat (therefore no ammo and repairs) missions that don't require any trade goods. However they pay much less gold in the early stages than a captured ship is worth and probably won't cover your expenses on their own. If you go this rout reduce your crew down to ~10 over minimum to lower operating costs.

Additionally you should look out for the green boxes on your map. They're free cargo just floating in the ocean, you can collect and sell (ideally to smugglers).

You can also go into "open world" and pick up wreckage which will be salable commodities.

Once you have yourself stable, do the storyline missions. They unlock bases you can get making you passive income, repair your ships at reduced cost, and make you useful goods that can be kept or sold.

Thank. you.
I have read and executed this. it helped me a lot to start off.
when I realised I started making more money tho I took a diffrent road, I used the Victory already and now have a 4 boat fleet of the Victory and the galleon with 2 ... I forgot the name those speedy things they go fast, I leave the vic in the back with the galleon and take the 2 speedies to drag em towards it, if they 2 speedies can handle it themselves then I will shoot down the boats and continue along the way.

Once I noticed I was able to start using the Victory I started upgrading, I read some more and bought the right stuff I needed also with bombs started capturing every town I was able to by shooting down the boats with the 2 smaller ones that outrun anyone and I can manouvre pretty easy with so get dmged as less as possible claimed the 5k and redone it, ended up being on 20-30k and used it to upgrade the bases with, full production so that I'd atleast get 5k from cannonballs

I went on with the capturing boats and made sure I made a stable income I'm a bit behind in the game with time and such but I'm not bothered by that, once I noticed that the open world was very profiteable I used it more too, I would say for a noobie, if you get a too big ship, first things first, open world get stuff and money for the big boat and take over towns.

I am back from my falldown of having nothing and leaving each port with one boat, so far I only assigned the boats I have conquered a town for and leaving the bases I captured with 3 war boats fully upgraded, (because I didn't know how else to take care of that).

Thank you so much for this I'm glad you could help!

Dutchy

My Tipps ffor making money

Obviously harbours are the best money source. Upgrade all facilities as much as you can, always keep a little craft with maintenence crew (of 2) in each harbour to be able to jump to it to sell everything in the storage to the shop. (having the shop in the harbour is almost too good)

Don't just sell captured ships, consider sending them on piracy missions instead. (its the globe in the ship view). Upgraded ships make more money.
(Exeption first rates, 2nd rates, manowars; too much crew to be used for piracy missions)

Go on open world missions a lot (with 1 fastest ship). Not only to explore but to capture ships (to send on piracy missions). Schooners, Sloops of war, Brigs, Corvettes, Frigates, Clippers make great hunting ships, if upgraded. Remember, we are Pirates, our prey are Flutes, Barques, Clippers and Caravels. We run from war ships, not because we are shy, but we cant afford the money for the fight.

Always do the slave trader missions. Capture the slaver, send the ship on piracy mission. Best ships for low risk piracy missions are the Flute and the Barque.

IMO: In early game, upgraded barques make great trade, ferry and smuggling ships.

If you have a first rate, you could prolly just stroll up to pritty much any ship and insta capture it. First rate have overwhelming crew numbers for anything smaller then a 2nd rate. Noshots needed. I just hope you invested in the boarding captain skills. Target the slave ships. They offer rich pickingsand are often flutes... which is basically a sitting duck on it's own. Can also take the ammo the enemy has when you board them.

I've reached the point where I got all the skills unlocked and have 50-60 towns in my possession, ofcourse they take them back day by day but that means more money to me too.

all the ships I have are upgraded ones got 3 1st-rate's and 15 corvette's that I use for whatever I feel like and next to that I keep all the 2nd rate's, man-o-wars ( I played with those a little too ) and ships below that to stay in my bases and also keep them in the towns I've captured, I considered using always 2-3 galleons or war galleons in every town I've captured might I feel like doing something with them.

everything's under control now I'm starting to learn what to do so far and I'm actually starting to learn how to command ships instead of just using one and go lumberjack on other ships straight up.
I don't see why I do missions because I bassicly don't need them to make money if I need money for something I go by all the switches of bases to sell things or just capture several towns again.

Thank you for all the help (idk how to close this, probably can't)

Greetings~

Hi I am glad you manage to get out of your predicaments and you have learned the hard way
This game is great and definitelly not a pay to win otherwise there is no sense in playing
You need to learn to ride a push bike before you buy a Ferrari
Well done the newbees will learn something here

When I started out It was all about trying to keep my ship, not even realizing that I could just restart, so I was wasting money trying to make sure I didn't loose the ship(s). After I captured my first few bases I would leave a ship on them and had a minimum crew, so I could just switch back to it and sell all the cargo that was produced and stored at the warehouse, with the minimum crew you can keep the ship there for pretty much your whole game. I started to give up on trying to capture ships after a while becasue this method was so OP. You only pay for few crew so it isn't a large ammount to pay when you do, you earn more money the more buildings and upgrades that you have for your town so it's better to max out the island, if you are low on money you can skip the shipyard because pretty much all it does is give you more stuff for disassembling your ships.

Later in the game when I didn't need to worry about money anymore, I started running with a Galleon that was a "Millitary" ship and had a cargo hold of 4k+ so I could tank easily, it's also swift enough so that you can get away from steam ships when it's fully upgraded. I started to capture smaller ships like flutes and whalers so I could steal the cargo and disassemble the ships for even more money. (I'm pretty sure when you have a shipyard maxed that it can give you more money overall then selling at any docks) Doing this gave me enough money and EXP That I was starting to get repair kits and didn't need to worry about buying wood or sails to repair, and if it was a small repair I would undock and repair with planks and stuff to save the kits.

I currently have more then 10 flutes and a few Caravels so that I have extra storage space for any items I want to sell when the time comes around for it to be a high priced item, a first rate if I don't feel like taking my galleon, a group of steam ships to capture things like ketches and brigs, and leave them behind to capture more. (Automatically dock once you get out of range)

I almost never attack cities and I have come accross some of the hidden ports but again, money isn't a problem anymore when you have around 10 maxed ports of my own selling stuff.
Jambie Lionheart Jul 21, 2017 @ 10:54pm
I don'teven bother doing that :3 it takes way less effeort to just captre a ship and sell all of the goods on it and then sell the ship. Depending on what you capture and it's cargo, you coud get 3,000 from just one ship easy :3 I attack the towns sometimes too though, which is more fun.
