Which ships are the best to use?

In my opinion the best ships to use for this game are fast ships like frigates and corvetts,they have good mobility,speed and pretty good guns,but if you want to face big ships like first and second rates it's better to have a first rate.

corvette is best for exploration, 1st rate is best for battle. this game is rather straightforward

They are good but the Corvette is better,it's the fastest ship in the game,well besides the Steam Corvette.

You can't buy a 1st rate,you must capture it or build it.If you want to build it,it costs about 11000 coins i beleive,I'll go check and give you the price for that.

Ok on a level 1 shipyard a 1st rate costs 11799 coins.

Yes,also the less expensive the repair cost for your ships.

Also if you want to get a 1st rate make sure you can afford keeping it,you must have enough money to keep paying it's crew weekly,you can take less crew so you don't spend that much but with less crew a 1st rate isn't that good.Oh and if you want to capture a 1st rate it's better to get a frigate,with the frigate capture a Man O'War,with the Man O'War capture a 2nd rate and with the 2nd rate capture a 1st rate.

Okay. What are your opinions on sloop of wars? They seem to sink my hips a lot and are pretty fast. should I invest in some?

i used frigate to capture 1st raid

First rates are the best, mostly because you need the 600 sailors to capture good ships. Just sit near a town that only spawns 2 defenders and buy ale until you get a slave ship marker. Then attack the town and blitz steal the 2 ships, but don't take the town. Map to the slave ship and replenish your sailors. Repeat indefinitely.

Can you suggest which town has the two defender which is 1st raid?
