Why is this game launching Steam VR?

When I start Unbox, Steam VR automatically launches which it normally only does for VR games.

Hi Howie. Can you check that the follow fixes your issue:

Right click on the game in your steam library then click properties. From there you should see a checkbox that says "run game in steamvr" or something like that. Uncheck it and you should be good to go.

There's only "Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active". But SteamVR isn't active, the game activates it ;)

I'm having the exact same issue too. Keeps opening oculus app (even if closed), steam VR and then boots into VR view but it's as if it's not calibrated for VR anyway

Hi all, we're sorry that the app is opening Steam VR mode. We're still looking into a fix right now, but as a workaround in the meantime you may have to turn off or unplug your VR device.

I have also found this discussion that has other users with a similar problem, although I recommend backing up before making any changes to the installed files.

I've found how to stop it from happening: disabled "other VR applications" mode in oculus settings.

Not a big deal, actually reminded me I had the Vive still plugged in and was wasting power ;)

It's still doing it, apparently. My headset isn't plugged in, either.
