This or Nameless?
What it says. This looks like it has the better art and voice acting, but I've heard Nameless has a more interesting plotline that gets you hooked. I'd like to hear opinions from some people before I make that decision.

I really, really liked this VN. Nameless's demo was a turn off for me though, and the dev seems to have a voyourism fetish. >_> Also, Nameless' art is really bright and kinda hurt my eyes?

I realllly, liked everything about this VN. Literally, no complaints. But I'm also a Japanese history nerd. I like kdramas too? but.. Nameless was not.. cutesy to me. just. creepy. idk try Nameless' demo. A friend of mine though who played Nameless says it's both a yandere fest, and a better horror game than 'otome'

Geez. And I was about to buy Nameless blindly. ^^""
I loved Mystic Messenger and I don't mind dark themes, but I will definitely try the demo first, thanks for your review.
Now that there are sales on Steam, I want to purchase something else. I dunno if to buy Nameless (or dandelion) or give a try to The Men of Yoshiwara. What do you think?

@Goldenkitty:

Definitely buy Nightshade: it's truly a jewel among the otomes on Steam.
The art and music are piece of cake that never annoy you, story and characters are well written and each route give you different perspective of the events.
Love doesn't born out of the blue, but instead MC and chosen guy grow a powerful bond the more you go on reading the story.
This otome is well balanced with light and dark moments: you will have routes which your heart will shatter into thousand of pieces and other routes that will fill your soul with cutest moments.
I don't regret buying this game definitely.

I can't say anything about Nameless, since I haven't played yet, but follow Techcoffeezombie and download the demo first.

Can't say anything about Nightshade, haven't played nor even bought the game yet. I have, however, played Nameless and it's an amazing otome. Great story and characters, top notch voice acting, amazing soundtrack (check out Leaving Smile Behind, Yuri's theme or Tei's theme on YT) and pretty art (the sprites in particular, gorgeous and animated). The only slight downside is the english translation which has a few typos and weirdly phrased sentences. It bothered me a little at first, not so much after the story got me hooked. I think Lance's route has the majority of them anyway (recommended first to play character). If you're looking for a cute and drama free otome, then definitely stay away from Nameless. However, if you want a deep story with well developed characters (this includes the MC, Eri, who is an excellent protagonist), then by all means, buy Nameless.

Dandelion is a stat raiser. Also has a demo. Try that. A lot of people hate stat raisers though, and for good reason.

Avoid Yoshiwara. Unless fingers like whitefish, and eyeballs that lick you, and hands crawling across the floor are.. uh.. complimentary to you rather than unnerving. XD

Sadly there's nothing I have enjoyed on steam as much as I have Nightshade. Just. No other otome compares. There are a bunch of free ones I can recommend? but like. paid stuff is dicier for some reason.

.. and I just saw your response to my comments in another thread. :tomb: I really wish there was more stuff I could recommend, but I'm picky, there isn't much, and there's just not a lot that isn't problematic for one reason or another. ><

Thanks for the responses. Guess I'll go with Nightshade, after some thinking the setting just seems like something a history buff like me might find more enjoyable, even if it's fictional history. Plus I just think the art looks nicer, there's something slightly off about Nameless artstyle.

Actually it's not too far off the truth. a lot of people in here are real, there's a bunch of little nods to specific events that happened, and they did a pretty good job representing the real people. The main character, and her plot arc are fictional? but quite a bit of the background stuff is fact.

Nameless is actually a very good vn. You will need some getting used to from Japanese to Korean voice acting. if you like bjd you will appreciate it. Its have some nice plots too.

I've just completed Hanzo route in Nightshade and its just so good .... its relationship developement and the rewarding ending of a future together just blows me away. i'm looking forward to play all the other route.
