Similar games?
Are there any similar ANGSTY BITTERSWEET games like Nightshade??

Most of the popular otome games I know of and/or played usually have really fluffy and happy endings/storylines. At least not as many character deaths as this one QwQ so beautiful ahem

If you are looking for otome with bittersweet endings I would definitely recommend Dandelion as only one route has a truly happy ending. I wouldn't go so far as to call it angsty though.

Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom is pretty angsty. (But I suppose you already played because... classic)
And they're not otomes, but... The Walking Dead series (TellTale) has everything you're looking for: A LOT OF CHARACTERS DIE. It's similar to a visual novel because you can make A LOT of choices, but you have to kill your fair share of zombies. Completly easy, so don't worry about that. If you're more into epic fantasy... The Game of Thrones series from TellTale as well has a lot of death and angst, too. So much that it can be frustrating.

Hope this helps!^^

ahh I've heard of Cheritz's games, and I enjoyed Mystic Messenger very much, but idk if I'm up for all that stat boosting and stuff in dandelion (as seen in some reviews), I'm like more heavily plot based games ^-^ thank you for your suggestion! (also what are your opinions on Nameless?)

Thank you for your suggestions! I'll definitely check the latter two out, but I do not own any handheld devices yet (besides my mobile phone unfortunately ; - ;)

I loved both Dandelion and Nameless. Both are bittersweet. Even with the stat boosting in Dandelion I would consider it to be heavy plot based. I have seen a lot of reviews where people seem to have had a hard time with the stat raising aspect but I have never had issues. I personally liked Dandelion and Nameless more than I likes Mystic Messenger. (Unpopular opinion, I know)

I would love to give them a try later on! (if only they went on sale >.>)
I only play Nier 2017 年 4 月 15 日 下午 6:50
If you have a Vita then I strongly recommend Code Realize, probably the best otome I've played with a very solid story and protagonist is stronger than Enju, and Enju is already stronger than your average MC. Otherwise, play Hakuouki.

Hakuoki is getting a new game with more romanceable characters. I would suggest that one over the first release. :D

DEFINITELY seconding Hakuouki and Code: Realize. Toki no Kizuna has a localized port for mobile (called Demon's Bond), though it doesn't have any voice acting in the port. It's basically an unofficial prequel for Hakuouki. I've only played one route for Toki no Kizuna, but it's definitely in the same vein as the others.

Amnesia: Memories is another one I would recommend, though I wouldn't consider it as angsty as the others, but it's definitely not your standard fluff.

OZMAFIA! might be worth checking out. I've only played one route of this, as well, and it felt a lot fluffier to me than what I usually enjoy, but the other routes might be more to your taste.

These last two are on steam, as well, so you don't have to get a vita or anything, which is convenient!

Both Amnesia and Ozmafia's heroines are kind of....weakly developed and lacking in personality, but I might just be setting my expectations too high for otome games ( ;∀;) I've been hearing a lot about Hakuoki and Code Realize, so I'll see if I can get them later on~

In their defense tho, both have lost memories so it's understandable how they behave. Imagine you've lost your memories what makes you you. At the end of each routes (normal and happy endings), they get part of their original characters back. Well, almot along the end of the routes, they recover slowly. It's hard to describe a character with no memories so heroines needed to build their characters from scartch.

I would consider getting a PS Vita or PS TV to look into the Idea Factory otomes released on the platform and are coming, like Period:Cube later this month. You can also buy the PSP releases digitally on the PS Store.

Hopefully Kenka Bancho Otome from Spike Chunsoft is coming too.

OMG I heard a lot about Code Realize, I wish they will release a PC version of this game ç_____ç

They recommended you good otomes so far, I would also add Black Wolves Saga...I played it ages ago, but I still remember how dark was that otome.
