Can't select tree in front of house (solved)

Running into a major bug early in the game. According to the in-game strategy guide, I need to select the tree on the front steps to dig up the fire symbol, but it's not selectable.

Or maybe I'm missing something that's supposed to trigger it becoming selectable?

I'm playing on Ubuntu with Steam Play, so that might be causing unexpected issues (although I've tried other 5BN games and they've run great for me so far). Hopefully someone can help.

EDIT: I figured it out, I missed that you had to read the note first before you could look under the tree -_- Not a bug, sorry.

tbh i havent finished the game, haven't finished any game yet , always buy play much later
I have the retail version ( cd/dvd) also havent played that so i dont know if bugs exist, i did play bigfish demos, and usally i havent found too many gamebreaking bugs, so maybe extra bugs sneak in with the steam versions, cause the retails are drm free , no clients needed to run install or play.
