I have the same problem, it just crashes and says there was some authentication error

This is something we're still trying to fix. Error code 6 means that you're trying to authenticate with an invalid Steam ticket. Error code 6 comes back as rejecting it, because steam is telling our server that it's invalid, even though in many cases it shouldn't be. Hopefully we'll have it all ironed out soon, I just don't know when.

thanks for the heads up. I was able to get in later. Possibly your server just thought I was still logged on? Hence the invalid ticket? Also just to let you know as well that this lockup occured when I tried to join a non-TDM match. TDM was fine.

If this is true, wouldn't simply exiting Steam fully, deleting your Clientregistry.blob file, then re-launching Steam fix this weird issue?
