Lost all 9 hours of progress I made in the past two days

I have no idea what has occurred here. I went into an area and suddenly the game crashed. When I re-opened the app, I got a message that said my profile required an update??? Next thing I see is the game back at the VERY BEGINNING. Is there any way to get that data back or do I, literally have to begin this game again?
