Finding out how to fix the game should have been your only option. but then again why did you have the codex version downloaded? answer you are a pirate and only purchased the game to get the CC.
How many other pirated games are you installing on your PC.
when you say the 2 hour clock starts when you start the downloading do you mean updates when the game client is running or the initial download from steam? all games should d/l from steam with the latest updates.or you could just leave the settings on your steam client to update games, it does that without the game running so you get 2 hours of gameplay.
and just to make a point very clear if you use pirated software you are a pirate, I dont care if you run 88 legit games and 2 pirates that still makes you a pirate.
As a professional IT consultant (network design and security) if something breaks you fix it you dont go get the pirate version. I have been involved with Computers in either a hobby or professional capacity for 39 years, please stop trying to make stealing software sound like a right way to deal with problems.
Its amazing you seem to draw a line at stealing as its ok as long as you dont do it on a pc that connects to the net, and only to try things for free.
As for the government cracking down on things, I have reported you to steam for advocating Piracy, and seriously hope they hand your details to the police so that they can crack down on piracy. Lets make this simple you use pirated software even if its for 2 hours that makes you a pirate.
The steam 2 hour refund period has always been enough for me to get a final answer as to the playability, I have refunded 1 item in all the time I have been a steam member. reviews and adverts tend to be enough to get a good idea about a game. Then its simply playtesting on how well the game runs. 1 hour of hard testing is normally enough to test any situations that are not fully covered by adverts and reviews.
As for this game its rock solid on a 6700k o/c to 4.7ghz with a GTX1070 running Widows 7 pro , our machines are a close match. The problems on Windows 10 seem to be the fact that the updates on Windows 10 have been irratic, and several changes were made at the core of the O/S since this games release. I have no doubt a well built system with all of its drivers and software properly installed will run the game well.
