Are the vending machines have an important role in the game? [Spoilers]

So i finished the game and it was really really great but i only opened one of the machines and i wonder that are the vending machines are important for the ending (or for the game) or are these just some easter eggs?

The first one, you need to plug something into it to make the machine work

Then you can visit a place, I did it with one character and i'm not quite sure what I saw.

Still need to see behind the third one in the basement

I've opened all three but still trying to figure out the secrets behind them. The one on the second floor doesn't seem to have anything other than the radio. The one on the first floor can only be done with ??? as it requires one of the batteries from the cabin to access the portal. The one in the basement is what has me stumped, it seems to be a pipe puzzle like the one Chandrelle has to do in her chapter, but the vial labeled M.C. Serum is empty. Trying to wrap my head around that last one...

The M.C stands for mind controll serum which refers that the bar tender was the one who made and sent those aliens in order to get rusty to join him to open the hex, this same effect was done for space marrine 3 with the player being tricked into thinking he was "killing aliens" becuase as you may or not know the bar keep was basicly betrayed his maker and his legs smashed becuase he refused to leave
