Another thing is AP system ..I use the Classic system which is how the Boardgame use ...but many of my friends like the Persistent AP system ...
It is probably most similar to Matrix's own Heroes of Stalingrad (HoS) game, which is available on its website. I'd say HoS is a bit more hardcore in terms of rules and nuances, but both games are pretty good. A less experienced player might enjoy Heroes of Normadie here on Steam.
I'd give the base game a go. But to get the whole package at $70, you would really have to consider a number of better wargames like Command Ops 2, Command Naval Ops, Combat Mission 2 series, etc.
I
Heroes of Stalingrad , I love to get this one but until it comes to Steam , I dont think I can afford it
Wonder will it ever get a Steam release ?
Conflict of Heroes.
Heroes of Stalingrad.
All great games which i own the board games of CoH and L&LBand of Heroes(HoS but in Normandy basically)
Complexity wise i would say in the order listed above with HoS being a little closer to Squad Leader games with more tactical options, leaders ect. I have digital version of HoS and it is a good game just abandoned as Mark the dev moved on to pastures new.
I have the the board version also of CoH and the expansions Solo and Scenario Generator.
They are really good, very expensive as its just paper and cardboard but very enjoyable.
The card driven AI system is super neat so you can play by yourself against the AI without having to make the decisions for both sides, can't recomend it enough to be honest.
Was happy to see this up on Steam hope it gets some more love and a few scenarios, mods and some MP games on the go :)
HoS sequel is being developed over at Lock & Load publishing but its been info is scarce other than its in dev and its gonna be a while ect but a vast improvement over HoS so...

The guys at Lock & Load are using the AI card system developed for CoH for there board games also so you know what i gonna be spending some cash on in the near future :)
Here is another board game they are developing for PC.
World at War

The other series at Lock & Load that is cool is Nuklear Winter though this is not getting a digital release as far as i am aware.
Its an Alpha but it is coming to PC, when no idea, the other couple of digital conversiions they are working on are also behind shedule ect.
The Heroes of the Pacific PC version was originally slated for a mid 2015 release for example.
Got my fingers and toes crossed that the AI in this version is not dog sh*t like in the remakes.
There is always hope, but I will not be a first-day buyer when that one comes out ;)
Yes, patience is needed with L&L. I did buy into Command Ops 2 even though I had the old series from Matrix. Anyway, those boardgame conversions sound awesome.
