thanks for the good worlds on Worldy Cup =)
On your questions:
1.About Multiplayer:
Right now Worldy Cup allows multiplayer on a single computer as well as wifi multiplayer across multiple computers. There is no online multiplayer in the game right now.
When playing multiplayer on a single computer one just connects multiple joypads to the computer and starts a tournament or vs match 2P+ match.
One can also play multiplayer on a single computer with either all players playing on the regular screen or one of the players plays in VR and the other players play in non VR on the regular screen.
For that one can switch the display output of the regular screen in the camera settings menu to show a non VR view instead of the VR view of the player playing in VR on the headset.
For wifi multiplayer across multiple computers one just starts the game on each computer and on one of them one starts a multiplayer game
and on the other computers one chooses the option to join a wifi multiplayer game.
2.Similarities to Nintendo World Cup/ Goal 3 and other arcade soccer games:
Yeah, i loved arcade soccer games when i was small and most Nintendo World Cup and also later versions like Goal 3, so the Retro Voxel Arcade Mode of Worldy Cup is very much an homage to those games =) Basically i wanted to make a modern version of a game in that vibe with 3d visuals which still captures the charm and feel of such games.
Different soccer field sceneries/field and weather conditions:
There are already a bunch of different soccer fields with special features, like a meteor storm one and an ice field but no different weather conditions or something like a swamp field yet. I definitively want to add more soccer fields with bigger gameplay impact over time though.
Special Shots:
There are already a few super shots in there like an ice and fire super shot, i'll add more different ones over time.
One can do a super shot by collecting one of the supershot powerups and then pressing the shoot button to charge the super shot and then release it to do a spin kick super shot.
One can also do super shots by timing pressing the shoot button just right when receiving the ball mid air to do a bike kick style super shot.
One can also reflect super shots by running into them with a bubble shield powerup.
I would love to add online multiplayer but it is quite time intensive to do and honestly, i don't have the financial resources right now to work several months non stop on an online multiplayer aspect. I have to pay bills each month so i can't just doodle on something for many months with not enough income coming in to pay all those monthly bills in the meantime.
I'm happy with how Worldy Cup is received given it's early early access state right now, just financially, yes, it isn't enough right now to pay my monthly living costs.
For a moment that made me think back melancholic on my pupil days when i could doodle on games while having much less worries about bills to pay each month (at least until my dad left us..)
(so old "wise guy" call to all pupils: make the most of the timespan in which you don't have to worry about monthly bills that much yet ideally, no matter if it's making games or playing games or educating yourself (which playing games can be part of, too depending on what you want to do later =) ) or do whatever else you want to do and would later think you haven't done enough when later you have to worry about bills to pay each month =))
I have a few thoughts on how i could maybe pull the financial backing needed off, but not an ideal one yet. Maybe a crowd funding campaign or getting one of my other game prototypes i doodle on in between on weekends to a level i can release it.
Right now i work on client projects mostly to pay the bills and then work on my games in my spare time, but that is both taxing and also not ideal because then it takes way longer until i can implement some things there because so much less time on it.
Well, let's see, hopefully i can change some of those limitations in some way.
But enough insight on the struggles of an Indie dev now, thanks again for your positive words, they cheered me up and motivated me to push onwards a lot =)
