Gundabad is one of the hardest of the 3 Encounters, especially if you get bad draws in Location 1. My advice? Either Co-op it or Plan ahead based on the Locations.
Location 1: You must make sure to defeat every Fleeting Minion before the end of their turn, otherwise you'll be overwhelmed here. Forest Snare can help with this, since it'll help you with control. Maintain damage, get out some Willpower Minions (if you plan to Stealth Location 2) or start gaining Resources for Location 2.
Location 2: If you plan to Stealth, Guard and Willpower is your best bet. Keep gathering Fate or applying Willpower after summoning Minions to attack. Focus on defeating Goblin Sneaks to reduce any Shed. If you throw Stealth, you want to maintain control as you resolve the objective. This quest has 3 Willpower Objectives so make sure you have that considered for Tactic Sphere Decks.
Location 3: You want to defeat the Centipede or Snare them, they have a similar effect to Despair, but it only activates with direct attacks. Do not linger here for too long.
Location 4: You want to get max Fate as soon as you can or before travelling to this location, you will need those events.Make sure to bring a Dwarf hero or Dwarf Allies and use the 0 Attachment Cost Fate Event here alongside the 3 Attachment Event. This is a matter of speed, since each turn will cause more and more to happen. Focus the objective, while using Damage Characters to maintain control.

I can draft up a deck if you give me a while, I'll send a Deck Link from RingsDB to you.
EDIT: I'll test it in the encounter first, to make sure it's viable.

Thank you so much!
I only miss Hammer of Dis
I thought I had all the cards unlocked. Is Hammer of Dis easy to get?

It's the Hero Award of Dis, but I only included it due to the fact it can be useful early on. You can replace Hammer of Dis with Dwarven Axe instead.

I just beat it with this deck running Faramir, Frodo, and Gimli:

https://digital.ringsdb.com/decklist/view/182/gundabad-1.0

Came down to the wire with Gimli dead, Faramir at 1 hitpoint, and a board full of enemies. I only won because Frodo's stealth allowed him to bypass the enemy Guards to hit the final objective with just enough for the win.

Smart thinking like that can pull in clutch victories. And yeah, this Encounter is for sure the hardest. The biggest moment of understanding I had was choosing the right Locations to build up Resources and when to use Fate Events.

Yes, indeed knowing when to stall and when to race, when to fight and when to quest is very critical. For example, the final scenario of Campaign 2 can be beaten with a dedicated questing deck (I used Arwen + Elrond + Frodo and breezed it), even though it appears combat heavy.

I'd beaten Gundabad Awoken before (though I don't think I ever managed it on the hardest difficulty -- medium difficulty was hard enough!), so wanted to try again to make sure I had a viable deck with the most recent card updates.

To win, try to get all the extra card you can get from fate meter (I remember some cards that deal 3 damage to wolf, a card that exaust all wolf and such on), and bring those card, all, to the final stage, if needed, soon as you get in stage 2 you can call for Radagast help (9 point in meter maybe) if you have a good board (as the +1+1 bonus will carry over in stage 3). Remember that the final boss need to be taken out 3 time, focus him, as the second time you kill him, he destroy all the other enemies, so if you focus him it will be easier and don't waste time versus other wolfes. It's hard but not impossible! Don't be scared off

Great, glad to hear it! Feels good to finally knock off a completion on that Encounter.
