Co-op is much the same except more interesting and difficult as it becomes much harder to eliminate enemies before they can act. Unfortunately there is limited ingame communication options so you probably won't want to play with random people online (even if you can find them).
It's an LCG. Oddly enough, at the moment it is even more an LCG than when they called it 'The Living Card Game'.
Personally, I think that it's not as good as the tabletop game by any metric other than speed and ease of play but it's not a bad game. I do think there are some deep seeded issues with the content design which causes problematic balance where the game is difficult for new players but far too easy for those who've figured it out but it should still be a fun play for at least one go through the current content.
There is also an ingame currency you earn which can be used to buy cards of your choice from a general pool they call the 'vault' that isn't specific to any set. The game is pretty generous with this currency so it mostly serves to make it so that you don't have all the cards in the pool dumped on you at the start.
There are other cards that are rewards for the completion of each scenario.
Apparently, there are also now cards that are associated with each hero which you can get by doing something with that hero. I'm not really sure how these work, they're a new addition.
