DO NOT BUY THE NINTENDO SWITCH VERSION
I mistakenly bought this on the switch today since I love the game, but the port is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess.

It has crashed TWICE on me in my mere 2 hours of playing. I made it all the way to the 8th floor (furthest i've ever made it), even had a descent scroll in hand, and the game just crashes.

Two crashes? In two hours? What kind fo sloppy port is this? Severely disappointed, and I won't be playing until there are patches to fix this garbage.

I played for an hour or two and crashed on 1.2, on floor 6. Still absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you should be embarrassed of this port, I feel burned.
Thank you for the update. I am hopeful tht this will eventually be playable on the switch. At least the develoment team has been responsive and is trying to resolve the issues. I have to agree that at this point, it is not playable on the switch (works great on the PC though... the 1.19 updates have been running really well on my low end laptop). Besides the crashes, which really kill the game, I cant stand the "Generating Dungeon Data" in the middle of the levels. I (personally) would much prefer to have to wait 5 or so seconds between each floor than have it happen in the middle of the level.

Yeah the load time times are so long anyways, it should just be tacked on there.

@Matt I posted quite a bit of feedback last week on the Reddit thread as I played for several hours on the weekend. Would appreciate if you could take a look and forward to devs as needed.
It's still bugged out, no patches in weeks. Possibly abandonware.
looks like 1.3 patch has been submitted. Not abandoned. There are a number of fixes, but they have added an Autosave feature. Hopefully it will also address some of the crashing....

"The patch is now on its way for submission and and should hopefully roll out within a week. "

- The game will "auto save" after 5mins, but only when you go up or down stairs so it wont interrupt game play.
I REALLY hope that the autosaving is not being employed as a workaround to the crashing...

I mean, there should be zero need for autosaving in this game (unless we are trying to cover insane corner cases like blackouts and such, which are not a problem on Switch anyways).

As a developer myself, the fact that they could be introducing such a big feature just to circumvent a much bigger problem is deeply troubling.

Of course it's a workaround to make the crashes less detrimental to playthroughs, and I'm happy to see a sensible decision implemented until they work out the kinks.
I agree. I am glad they are doing it. It is already implemented on the PC version (at least it appears to be). My PC version has crashed a few times (much more infrequent), and I was able to pick up within 5 minutes of where I had left off. Makes a big difference. I agree also, that there should be a fix that completely deals with the crashes, but this will be a fine workaround until then.

Look at the PC version. Steam cloud saves broke several months after the game was released. They were never fixed, just disabled instead. It makes me wonder if the developer is even using a revision control system!

Sucks that such a great game, that feels so authentically like a live action brogue, can have so many neglected bugs.

LOL that would be insane.

I just realized now, but I wouldn't mind lending a hand for free to try and get some of these problems ironed out. I wonder if a dev house would ever be ok with such proposal from a random outsider.

I really liked this game the very first time I played it. So many cool and deep mechanics, gameplay is incredibly fun and dynamic... I'm sad it has so many critical problems still :(

Having said that... I'm still hopeful for 1.3. If that doesn't work out, I'll seriously consider going after a refund request.

If 1.3 has auto saves that aren't corrupted by crashes I'll be happy enough. I don't mind losing a few minutes of gametime, but in its current state you can easily lose 30 minutes + everytime you get a crash, and that is just unacceptable.

You can try! That being said I think a developer would be very hesitant to give the source code to a random internet person. For the game nuclear throne a modder got hired to so the final patch for the game but he had made a mod and was well respected by the community already

For working on switch games I think the tools are NDAed as well!
