FNAF SL Theory: Ennard is Sister Location's Puppet?
Hello, everyone, and welcome to an interesting theory I came up with after watching the minigames from the custom night. Also, spoilers for FNAF: SL and the custom night.
Also, later, there are spoilers for FNAF World, FNAF 4, and basically anything involved with this series. You HAVE been warned.

Are we good? Brilliant!

First, for those of you who don't know, beating a preset in the custom night on V. Hard mode shows you a cutscene. Starting with Angry Ballet, they go in chronological order from left to right. They start off with a normal person walking down a street with other normal people waving at him. This is the same for the first 2. In the third, the walking man is a bit pale, and his eyes are purple instead of blue like they were before. Over the course of the next cutscenes, his skin seems to decay, and more of the waving people realize that something is weird about him. first, a few people stop waving and just stand there looking at him. After a few more, some people hide behind their houses. In the last cutscene, there are only two people to be seen, and both are hiding behind the houses. Now, this is the important part. The last few minigames show the man walking, but this time his skin has decayed so much that it has turned PURPLE. And now, the last cutscene (not including Golden Freddy mode, as far as I am aware no one has beaten that yet. YET.) In the last cutscene, the man walks down the road, as usual, looking very sluggish and zombielike. He stops, however, at a sewer entrance in the side of the road, much like the one from the FNAF 4 minigame where Fredbear is in one. When the man stops, his throat swells, and then something that looks like a bunch of wires jumps out and into the sewer entrance. The man's skin drops to the ground like a corpse. Then, a voice says "You won't die" several times, then the man stands up again, and the cutscene ends there.

Now, this actually confirms a LOT about the game. First of all, we DO play as Purple Guy (Afton) during the main game, which would explain the decaying skin and the wire thing (which would actually be Ennard) jumping out of him. This also means that wherever Afton is shown in a minigame to be purple, it is taking place AFTER Sister Location.

But, what else can we get out of this?

If all instances where Afton is purple in the minigames is after Sister Location, that means that FNAF 4 takes place after, not before. In one of the FNAF 4 minigames, you can actually see Afton behind the large red doors. If you head back after going to the left during one minigame,Afton is behind the doors, putting someone into a suit. And Afton was colored purple.

"But what about all the other evidence that Sister Location is after FNAF 4 and before FNAF 2?" you might say.

Now, this is where I have to go find other SL theories to look at their evidence and see what they say about it.

Let's start with the most obvious one; MatPat's theory.

In MatPat's videos on SL, a few points are made as to the timeline.

-the green eyed girl from FNAF 4 is the same as the girl killed by Baby in SL, explained by their similar appearance and connection to Afton, therefore it is after FNAF 4

Now, on to another theory that is probably more likely looking at the new information; Treesicle's theory.

These videos, specifically the 2nd part, say that SL comes between FNAF 4 and FNAF 2.
The evidence provided is as follows:

-in night 4, you are inside a springlock suit
-the only springlock suits we have seen are Fredbear and Spring Bonnie
-both of these are present in EVERY FNAF game
-the springlock suits are also considered by most people to be the original animatronics
-the green-eyed girl is still alive in FNAF 4 but is dead by the time SL happens
-since there are similarities between Mangle and Funtime Foxy, it is assumed by many that they are one and the same, also explaining why Mangle is so destroyed; he was scooped to make part of Ennard

Wow, that's a lot to cover. Let's start with the one thing both have in common; the green eyed girl.

First of all, while it is true that Scott has updated characters graphically before, the change is quite large, when you really look at it.

-the girl in Sister Location does not have pigtails and has much lighter hair
-the skin tones for each are also very different
-they appear to have different fashion senses, although that is not a field I am experienced in so I can't be sure

Really, looking at it, the only unequivocal similarity is the green eyes.

Next evidence: springlock suits

In Treesicle's theory, they talk a lot about the springlock suits. There's quite a bit to cover here, so let's go.

-the suit at sister location is not made of cloth and has faceplates, as seen in night 4
-Baby/Ennard/Whoever is speaking during night 4 says it is from their "old pizzeria," however none of the animatronics there were at the old location
-the original 4 (Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy) do exist when FNAF 4 happens, if only as cartoons and not real animatronics, we know this because
1. the Fredbear and Friends TV show easter egg shows them
2. if the child is having nightmares about these characters, then surely he must have seen them somewhere before
therefore, it is also possible that an earlier location existed with all four of the FNAF 1 characters (maybe not the same animatronics, but the same characters)

Seeing this, it is entirely possible that the springlock suits came after the FNAF 1 characters' first animatronic versions, as well as the springlock suit in SL being a different, probably more advanced one.

Finally, let's talk about Mangle and FT Foxy

-if FT Foxy really was part of ennard, then how did he separate himself?
-why wouldn't the phone guy just say "it's from an older location and kinda had a rough time there"
-why would there be posters for Toy Foxy on the walls of New Freddy Fazbear's if Toy Foxy was not even intended to be part of the new group of animatronics?

Therefore, Toy Foxy must have been created for the new location, and not salvaged from SL.

Now that we have countered some evidence as to it's location, let's look at the other major piece of evidence from the cutscenes;
Ennard jumps out of Afton's body, leaving it collapsed on the ground. However, a voice, presumably still Ennard, says "You won't die" several times. Then, Afton stands up again without an animatronic inside. How could he do that? Well, I think that Ennard somehow had Afton's soul possess his body again, making it able to move around on its own. However, how could a person possess himself? Well, by that point Afton's skin had decayed so much that it had turned purple. There's practically nothing left of him except his soul and the remnants of his skin. By this point, it could be possible that his decaying flesh had changed enough since it housed a living person that it could be possessed just like an animatronic suit. And, I also believe that when Ennard enters Afton, Afton's soul is possessing Ennard, not the skin. When Ennard realizes that Afton's skin had changed enough to be possessed, he jumped out of the skin, then set Afton's soul free to come back to life once more. And, we've seen possessed animatronics do this before. The puppet did the same thing, more or less.

But, wouldn't Afton's skin just decay anyway? Well, maybe not. In the FNAF 3 minigames, we see all of the FNAF 1 animatronics, working well, and their suits seem to have sustained no damage nor undergone any decay, which is weird since most fabrics are made of organic material, and as such will decay with time. Therefore, wouldn't it be possible that in the FNAF universe, things that are possessed do not decay? It would explain why Afton's skin never changes throughout the rest of the series.

But what about Springtrap? He seems pretty decayed by the time FNAF 3 rolls around.

Well, I believe that the damage was dealt not by decay, but from the initial springlock failure, and the suit moving around as controlled by Afton's soul. Let me explain that last part.

Say you were inside a suit for 30 years, and couldn't leave the suit nor the room, but you could move the suit around the room. Wouldn't you look for a way out? Maybe bang on the boards blocking the door, trying to break them? That could cause some damage to an animatronic suit for sure.

So, what am I saying exactly?

I am saying that, based on prior evidence and the custom night cutscenes, Sister Location is, as of now, the first game in the chronological timeline. I am also saying that after SL, Afton is just a possessed "suit" of decayed skin. Now, I know this leaves a LOT to be discussed, but it's past midnight right now, and I have somewhere to be tomorrow. I need to go, but I can continue this theory/discussion later. Please share your thoughts/theories/criticism as we draw closer to unlocking the mysteries of these games.

Also, please please PLEASE tell me if I missed evidence or have flawed logic. The more I can make this better, the more we find out about the story, and as a result, the closer we get to the truth.

12/3/16
More evidence!

We already know Ennard has the power to "Give Gifts, Give Life," and that is very important here. We know that the girl shown in SL is dead, killed by Baby, and presumably going on to possess Baby. Well, if Baby really became part of Ennard, that means that her soul is still in Ennard. This explains why he has the ability to bring things back to life by having them possess objects, as the puppet is definitely possessed as well. But, how did the puppet become possessed, if another entity had to be present to make that so? Well, maybe ennard did it, since he had this ability, and probably before FNAF 4 and the FNAF 2 minigame showing the two possible candidates for possessing the puppet.

But, how could the girl possess Baby, if there wasn't another entity to help her do so?

Well, if we look at all the dialogue, we see that there are several sentient beings. One of which is HandyUnit.

The strange thing is, I haven't seen/heard him mentioned in any major theory, yet it seems so strange. What exactly is he? Is he kinda like GLaDOS? Or is he an animatronic that follows you around or something? How is he sentient?

Well, what if he was CREATED as a sentient being? What if, in the FNAF universe, Afton (or someone else maybe) figured out a way to create a sentient computer? And, isn't it possible that any being can have something possess something else in the FNAF universe as long as it is sentient? HandyUnit, Baby, and Ballora are the only unequivocally sentient beings here, so either Ballora or HandyUnit had to make the girl's soul possess Baby. So, maybe HandyUnit is sentient because he was programmed that way. What about Ballora?

Who could have become Ballora? And how did that happen? Why? Also, while we're asking questions, why would HandyUnit/Ballora make the girl's soul possess Baby? Why would Ennard bring Afton back to life? Is this going to conflict with basically every piece of evidence in this series?

Well, we know the answer to the last one. Probably.

Now, we need to find all the candidates for possessing Ballora. We know there are 7 total dead children, however only 5 of them are unequivocally possessing animatronics. There are two that are very hard to determine, although one is a boy which makes it less likely.

-the child from the FNAF 2 minigame
-the crying child from FNAF 4

The one from FNAF 2 is of unknown gender, which means that the child could be a girl, making it more likely that the child that possesses Ballora is that child. Also, for the crying child, he dies at the END of FNAF 4, therefore he could not be Ballora as that would conflict with the timeline we've been reconstructing so far.

Now we have more questions. How did they possess a suit that was not even nearby? How did HandyUnit/whoever did it know about Ballora, the facility, and the child at the same time?

Maybe it is possible for a human to make a soul possess an animatronic?

That would allow us to get out of this corner we've been backed into. Let's go back to a much earlier question.

How did Baby become possessed?

A human did it. A human, who was sentient of course, made the soul possess the animatronic.

Now there's DIFFERENT questions, not less? How did a human learn how to do this? Why would they do this? What about Ballora, or HandyUnit?

Well, let's actually go back to MatPat's theory, part 2, that claims that Afton made the Sister Location facility in order to unlock the secret of fusing souls to animatronics to save his son. Well, that could still be the reason it was created, just maybe not for his son.

What if Afton created the place to find a way to fuse his daughter's soul with an animatronic?
Let me give a few pieces of evidence to explain a bit.

-Baby says that she was at some older location during night 4
-she also says that she was only on stage once when you go to the circus gallery during night 3
-it would be very strange for the mascot of a restaurant to be on stage only once

So, what could this "old pizzeria" be? Perhaps a Freddy Fazbear location BEFORE sister Location?

Maybe Baby was created for that location to have her own separate show, like foxy from FNAF 1. This location would also have a springlock suit that was similar in design to Baby. Then, even though Afton knew it was dangerous and warned her not to go, his daughter went to play with her. Then, Baby killed the child for reasons that are no longer clear. Afton, wanting to save his daughter, sold the restaurant building and most of the animatronics, except Baby and the springlock suit, to make enough money to build the Sister Location facility. Later, he built an aboveground location to make more money so he could continue to experiment underground. Eventually, he unlocks the secret, and after trying it out several times to ensure it is safe for the souls, he has his daughter possess Baby. To be with her again. But, she was not happy with being stuck underground in a robot. Even though she did not want to, she knew that she would have to kill Afton to make him a flesh suit to escape. However, after a while, when Ennard realizes the skin is no longer a valid means of hiding, they leave said skin. Then, knowing they could, they made Afton repossess his skin, making him technically "alive" again. I am unsure of what happens to Ennard after this, but it is possible that Ennard goes to the new location, sees Afton kill a child outside it, and realizes their mistake. They realize that Afton, after being killed then brought back to life, had gone insane. They then vow to stop him at all costs, so that no more lives are lost. They make the child possess the puppet, and the rest you all know fairly well.

Now, there are a few questions left unanswered.
-what about the FNAF 4 child?
Well, I think that since he has not DIRECTLY killed by Afton, Ennard does not have him possess something. Instead, his soul goes to rest, but not immediately.

Now, I am actually going to bring up FNAF World for more than a single line of dialogue to explain this.

When you do the clock ending in FNAF World, 8-bit Fredbear tells you that you have to "leave breadcrumbs for him." Who's him? How are we leaving breadcrumbs? Well, let's look at the last moments of the clock ending.

"We are still your friends. Do you believe that?
The pieces are in place for you.
All you have to do is find them.
Rest."

Well, I don't know about you, but when I looked at the various clocks and the ending, I thought "FNAF 4 child." It makes sense, if you look at it this way.

The FNAF 4 child couldn't accept his death, nor could he come back to life, so he is stuck in some kind of purgatory or similar concept. He stays there until the souls of the children that Afton killed are freed in FNAF 3. Then, the souls agree to help the FNAF 4 kid to be set free as well. That is who we play as in World. In fact, I'd like to go a step further, and say every character is a different soul. Either killed when Afton was experimenting, killed by Afton directly, or related in a similar way. Afton would have experimented on several children to unlock the secret of soul possession, so he had to have killed several kids. All of their souls agree to leave a metaphorical trail of breadcrumbs for the FNAF 4 kid to follow. At the end, the last lines make so much more sense.

"We are still your friends. Do you believe that?"
This is showing that, even through all that happened, at least two of the kids remembered the child as a friend. Possibly two or more of the children from the Missing Children Incident.

"The pieces are in place for you. All you have to do is find them."
They are telling the child that all he needs to do is follow the path of metaphorical breadcrumbs to them.

"Rest."
That last line makes sense too. They are leading the FNAF 4 child to them so they can all finally rest in peace.

Okay, now let's see if we can't write a new timeline.

-Fredbear's Family Diner
Not really much to see here. This location closes and is bought by Fazbear Entertainment.

-first Freddy Fazbear's
This restaurant had 4 characters; Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. It also had Baby, an animatronic made with much more advanced technology to perform a circus-like act, hence the name Circus Baby.

Afton's daughter dies
Afton sells the restaurant and most of the animatronics except Baby and a spare animatronic that doubled as a suit to make the SL facility

-SL facility
Afton opens an aboveground restaurant with two less advanced, and therefore cheaper, animatronics to get money for his experiments
Afton unlocks the secret to fusing souls with animatronics
ends up creating several sentient animatronics, one of which is possessed by his daughter
the events during Sister Location take place
Ennard is created and leaves in Afton's skin
when the skin decays to the point that the disguise doesn't work, ennard leaves the body and makes Afton's soul possess the skin again
Afton goes on to kill a child outside the restaurant he built, that combined with the FNAF 4 kid
being killed by one of the animatronics, and five more children going missing causes the place to be shut down
due to these events, six animatronics are possessed
Fazbear Entertainment, now a large company, is desperate to sever as many ties to the old location as possible.

FNAF 2
"I want you to ignore anything you may have heard about the old location..." -Phone Guy
They create a "new" restaurant with more advanced animatronics, but by the end of the year 1987, the new place is shut down due to one of the animatronics biting the frontal lobe out of someone.

With no other options, the company decides to save the old, withered animatronics from the very first place, and refurbish them for a new, smaller location.

FNAF 1
They repurchase the original location, feeling that they should try to associate themselves with before all of the incidents at the second location. There, the animatronics are once again shut down due to the suits not being taken care of properly and becoming a health issue, and the animatronics are left to rot in the abandoned building. Then, Afton comes back to dismantle the animatronics, but in doing so sets the souls loose, and gets chased into the springlock suit of Golden Bonnie, and then....

The restaurant is revisited to be properly boarded up, and the back room is boarded up as well, just as a precaution.

Skip ahead 30 years.

FNAF 3
The suit had sustained damage from the initial springlock failure and from use over time. Then, it is found by some people looking for relics for their horror attraction. The night guard there finds himself having to defend against it, and when he sleeps for the few hours he can, he sees the souls of children long dead, and he saves them. After only 5 nights with an animatronic, before it even opened, the place burned down, leaving a few relics, including an old animatronic suit, that are sent to auction.

FNAF World
Meanwhile, the freed souls team up with all of the souls killed directly or indirectly by Afton to free the last soul; the FNAF 4 kid. Then, all of the souls are freed, and they all rest in peace.

Phew, that was a lot of typing. Anyway, I thought I had something to do today, but I guess I don't. Tell me your thoughts on this new part of the theory and my interpretation of the FNAF timeline.

I actually have a MUCH better theory that I'm thinking on now. It involves new info learned from the cutscene at the end of Golden Freddy mode on V Hard difficulty.
