Thorns and wrath cost reduction on necromancer. Advice for begginer necros.
The way thorns works in this game is each piece of gear deals separate thorns damage on attacker. So on my level 30 necromancer. With arcane and arcane crit damage on every piece of gear. Each thorns hit is 3k crit(no arcane crit damage/arcane stonebites). So thorns on 4 armor pieces hit for 3k 4 times so 12k. Add thorns on amulet and thats a whooping 15k damage on anyone who lands a hit on you. Something to think about.
Another thing never look down on wrath cost reduction. Same situation every piece of gear is arcane and arcane crit damage, no wrath increase of any kind so base of 935 wrath. At 30 each piece that can have wrath cost reduction gives 9%. So 4 pices of armor plus amulet give 45% reduction. Meaning each frenzy projectile cost 55 wrath. 935 wrath/55 wrath cost equals to 17 projectiles. With stats that I gave base damage of each projectile is 1074 at 497 arcane. With my 337% arcane critical damage purely from gear it means each projectile crits for 4696 damage. 4696x17=79832. Now lets say you have dlc... and have Gauntlets of Savagery. Thats 25% wrath cost reduction additional. You would lose arcane on your secondary weapon. You would drop to 418 arcane with 70% wrath cost recution. Thats 30 wrath per projectile at base damage of 932. With 935 wrath thats >>>31<<< projectile. At those stats since you lost a bit of arcane each projectile crits for 4074 damage. 4074x31=126294 damage per skill use. Good luck trying to do that much damage in 1 shot with harbinger spec. Even if you spent stonebites on critical damage you would not get close to this kind of sky high damage. My 935 base wrath is from 1 full game completion so thats plus from relics. I will have more wrath once I finish the relic collection second time. So 126k Isn't even as high as it goes for base wrath.
Guess what happens to Deposed King on apocalyptic after a single frenzy.
And the last tip. With necromancer spec your critical chance is really low. So lets say you use arcane/arcane critical damage/health steal/ice on scythes and use secondary weapon for wrath steal... since damage stats aren't global. Only stat on secondary that applies to everything and has use is arcane. So arcane/wrath steal + crit chance/crit damage(to generate as much damage for steal as possible). Now with 3% crit chance even slow weapons wont get you full bar in 1 swing. Yeah theres that hammer but strength is useless for necro spec. But.... theres 1 specific weapon that is either glitchy or intentionally works somewhat differently. Armblades. With 3% crit chance charged attack which also happens to be ranged and hit 1-3 times even with my measly 3% crit chance crits at over 50% chance. I don't know why... nor do I care. All I know is can fill my wrath bar in a single shot from distance. Also unlike slow and lame weapons where size seems to be the determining standart of usefulness these things don't make you a sitting duck every time you swing. Unlike heavy weapons you can dodge during attacks. Again something to keep in mind.

Why do all that ... I just stacked execution chance and healt steal ... all I do is one hit all day and regen any lost health.
