How to get a controller to work for Darksiders 2"
I remember that DS1 had problems with PC keybindings and controller support sucked. So I figured I'll pay it forward.

First you need to download x360ce, as both Darksider games only support Xbox 360 controllers.

You can find the download link here (its the first link):

http://code.google.com/p/x360ce/downloads/list

Extract this .rar file into your Darksiders 2 install directory. Typically its something like:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Darksiders 2

Now run x360ce and this will create a .ini file. And you can customize your controller from the x360ce screen.

If you have a cheapo controller I find that the Philips wireless controller preset works best for ggetting your axes working correctly.

The official Microsoft wired Xbox 360 controller seems to work just fine for Darksiders 2. Just plug it in. Third-party brands might be different though.

As I stated, Darksiders only supports 360 controllers.

If you have a 360 controller, you're fine. Everyone else is S.O.L.

I really wish people would stop saying certain games "Only" support the XBOX 360 controller when it's completely false. Every game now supports XInput which is what the XBOX 360 uses among OTHER gamepads aswell like the Logitech F710 for example. This gamepad even goes a step further than the 360 controller by also supporting Direct Input (games used this prior to XInput) and an option to emulate the keyboard keys).

As long as games support the XBox 360 controller that is all that matters anyway.

Just got this game with the Humble Bundle package. Started playing, finally got my controller working get past the loading screen and BAM. Game crashes to desktop. WTH? Anyone know if there is a debug file I can look at to tell what happened as to why it crashed?

I got tired of trying to get my PS3 controller to work so I just picked up a Logitech f310 for cheap and it worked great right out of the box.

I got an Afterglow 360 controller and i have yet to find a game that doesnt work with it. It was $30. Then i see people paying Well over $100 on these logitech gamepads only to have to DL 3rd party apps and programs to get them to work. I mean its cool to be able to afford those gamepads, but im just not all impressed with their functionallity.

So I am borrowing a friends Xbox 360 with a wired USB interface connector. Still no luck. Its and official controller. The 32 link that leafs43 provided has no .exe. Could someone help me please. Its such a pretty hack and slash game.

Just turn the controller on before starting the game. It should detect a properly installed XBOX 360 controller without needing any additional programs, and everything (except for menus) in the game will be controlled by the controller.

Native XBOX 360 controller support:

Are you saying that the menus will still be controlled by the keyboard?
