Yeah, it won't start for me either. Have played it on this pc before, but decided to reinstall it. When I try starting it, the steam loading-screen appears for a brief moment, then nothing.

The integrity of the game files is fine. I've checked several forums where people have had similair problems. I've gone into the game-folder and tried using both vcredist_x86.exe and dxwebsetup.exe as instructed by some.

Funny thing is, it used to work when I first got it.

Have you changed any settings of your OS? The first thing you should try is to run the game in compatibility mode.
dns Sep 11, 2014 @ 10:04am
How do I do that?
DeadByDefault Sep 11, 2014 @ 11:19am
Right click on the application > Compatibility > Check 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' > Select any older version of Windows > Run the application in order to test whether the issues are gone or remain.

If they remain, repeat the process and select other versions of Windows for the compatibility mode.

I hope this helps.

Notify me of the results. :)

Right, now I've tried all the different compatibility options, but alas none of them worked. Thanks for the tip, thought! Never would've thought of it myself.

Did that work for you, halfon666?

I am sorry to hear so. Do you get any kind of error message?

Right, update! Tried directly clicking the Darksiders 2 exe in the program file. Got the error message saying the MSVCP110.dll is missing from my computer, and that I should try reinstalling the game. I did just that, but the error persists.

Am currently looking for fixes. Some sites mention that Microsoft Visual C++ can fix the problem, but that program is included by default with the game. I've checked, and it should be fully operational.

I'm using AMD Phenom quad-core 2.1 GHz, 4GGB DDR3, win 7 64bit.

and it SHOULD work, cuz I've run it on this computer before :P

there seems to be a lot of problems with starting this game. I was about to give up, but changing the compatibility on mine worked. i think it might run better on windows 7, and not 8, which is what i first tried.

never mind guys i just need to install directX

Aight, good to hear!

I've checked, and I have Direct X 11 installed. When I try the dxwebsetup.exe in the Darksiders2 folder, it states that I already have an acceptable version of DirectX, so an installation is not required.

Perhaps a manual installation of the allegedly missing dll-file may help:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp100

The file needs to be placed under C:\Windows\System32. You may also want to restart your PC afterwards.

I checked the folder. Turns out it already has a msvcp110.dll file in place. So in other words, the problem should be that the program cannot acces the file. Is that what C++ is for, or am I missing something?
