I can tell I am dealing with an A level student here :)
Ok,..Lets recap, and slowly this time. If you bothered to read the OP, you would realize that when Darksiders 2 popped up on a Daily Steam Sale earlier this week, I was considering the purchase but got little to no responses in this thread.
I then searched through earlier threads going back to 2013 and bumped one in particular called "What a poor console port" because I felt that it contained good considered discussion from fellow gamers with points both "For" and "Against". Since the sale was active, the topic relevant and more people seemed involved in that one, I posted my thoughts there.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Yours has been noted. Now, jog on Buddy. :)
Back on Point :)
Cheers, thanks for the feedback @Syntax. I ended up passing on this one and as the sale is currently over will revisit the topic when it goes on again.
Just to be clear, some of the feedback has been inconsistent - Some folks say M&K keys are rebindable / others (including the video link posted earlier) say it is not. Which is it? Also how were the boss battles in DS2 so far?
A big concern for M&K players is not being able to progress through a game, getting stuck at Bosses because of awkward controls (Dodging / Combos etc). Thanks much in advance!
Here is the feedback + link I referenced above
they are bindable, in the menu there is literaly an option called key bindings. the boss battles are the same so far, the only thing i dont like about the second one is the frequency of finishers (pressing e on a stunned enemy to execute them), it barely happens and i like finesse.
Thats great to hear, thanks very much for confirming. So with rebindable K&M controls, and several folks who have completed the game with, I think I will have reconsider DS2.
Just one final issue of note - any gamebreaking bugs you have encountered? Once again the feedback is inconsistent - and given the K&M feedback, its hard to tell if these were older issues since patched, or still ongoing.
From what ive read about to date:
- Save Game bug requiring a manual fix to allow save games
- Shift-Tab / 'Steam Overlay' Game Freeze bug
- frame skipping, texture tearing (might just be user hardware issues)
- lack of anti aliasing, vsync or any meaningful tuning settings etc
i have had no problems so far via save game bugs
shift tab works fine, i do it all the time to check achievemnts i just was awarded
frame rate is fine if you have shadow quality to low med, high/ultra drops FPS for me majorly there is vsync if you have tearing, texture tearing i havnt noticed at all, but its an old game so expect some
there is a setting for AA, i have my AA maxed out and its fine, just shadows that dont seem optimised.
my specs are
i7 @ 2.40
8gb ddr5 ram
2x gt650m

Thanks et. al for the responses - going to pick this up this time around, and give it a whirl
