Xbox controller wont work

So i recently purchased this game, wanting to get full story before i play the sequal, and when i get in game my Xbox controller wont work. the only button that seems to work is the start button and even thats is iffy. whats worse is that i cant even use PC controlls making the game completely unplayable. Anyone have an idea on whats causing the problem and/or how to fix it. Im in the process of uninstalling and reistalling now. thanks for any help.

The only thing I can think of is to unsure your controller is turned on or plugged in (is it wireless or wired?) before you launch the game.

I'm having this issue as well. Seems like lots of people are having this issue and it's nowhere near being resolved. I've used a wired Xbox 360 controller and a Logitech controller and have had the same results. What's happening to me doesn't seemed to be mentioned by others, though. When I get in game, the camera just endlessly circles around the character. No inputs work at all on either my keyboard/mouse or controller other than the ability to go to the pause menu.

My xbox 360 controller (wireless) seems to work fine.

The game has problems recognising game controllers, so anything like a webcam or printer may potentially cause problems with the controls. Try unplugging your devices one by one or disabling them from the start menu and see which one is causing the problem.

I had the same issue with my 360 controller not working, the only way I found to solve it was to close the game and make sure it was launched with the controller already switched on.

Im having the same problem, I tried unpluugging every thing except for my controller. Im not satisfied with Steam support service and if I were you, I would ask for a refound

Mine does this from time to time. Yea just restarting the game and not touching any of the buttons also help. It eventully start working again.

for what it's worth, my xbox wireless control so far has no problems (other than having to unplug a usb steering wheel before it worked)

i was having this problem.

right click computer in the task bar go to properties then device manager. under the Human Interface Devices tab disable all Virtual Hid Device's. it was my Belkin N52TE that was stopping the game from recognizing the controller

my only problem is that I can not use the display command " Lt", so I can not hit certain targets to continue the game...

I had the same problem. The reason? Because I had an other pad connected in same time. Just remember it, because I have often this problem with game that using the xbox controler

IM HAVING THAT SAME PROBLEM but the menu constantly changes it self it keeps selecting things i dont want
