Common Black Screen Fix
Open your game folder (default is Program Files)
Go under \media\videos
Delete AMD_Logo_movie.wmv
That should help most users get their game started. Additionally, you could encounter a black/blank screen in Darksiders if the game’s resolution was set to one that your monitor does not support. In that case, you need to delete another file.

Rarer Black Screen Fix
Open your games app data folder
Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\*YOURNAME*\Local Settings\Application Data\Darksiders
Win 7/Vista: C:\*YOURNAME*\AppData\Local\Darksiders
Delete options.dopt

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Darksiders\media\videos

The video mentioned by viktorfroskur should be the first one there

you must have gone to wrong folder or else you haven´t downloaded the game. There can also be more then one folder and some of them are empty so you shoulde just keep looking for the right one. ( good to do search in my computer if you haven´t already thought of that.)

if there is n other folder i woulde try to restart the game

I get no logos, just black screen at launch. Have tried uninstalling, re-installing, verifying the game cache, deleting videos, run as admin, run dxwebsetup, run vcredist_x86_sp1_atl_4053, and nothing has worked. Any other guesses?

There's a really simple fix. Manually lower your computer's screen resolution to 1024 x 768, then launch the game. Go to options and change the in-game resolution to match your computer screen resolution (for me, 1600 x 900). Save this setting, then close the game and change your screen resolution back to normal. Now the in-game and computer screen resolution settings match and the game launches with no issues.

WOW DUDE YOU'RE A FKIN HERO !! Omg thank you so much for this, I've seerching for so long, I've tried everything and nothing worked.. Knowing that this was just a resolution problem annoys me so much lol but anyway thanks, you're the man
