Keyboard and mouse doesnt work?

ermmm , ive been having some problems that quite a few people have been having. Its where you can use your keyboard and mouse to play the game, there isnt any options in the setting to change to hotkeys and it only comes up with a controller. Please help me T_T

Unplug any contorollers that you might have plugged in; even wirelessly.

i dont have a controller and i never have owned a console, all of my games are on pc :o

Anything plugged into the USB ports beside a mouse and keyboard? Or wirelessly?

I'm having the same problem. I have nothing plugged in through USB except my mouse.

nothing else plugged in but my keyboard and mouse, and also a Razer Nostromo though i have tried removing the nostromo and its still having the problem.

Oped a device manager, than go HID, and found an Razor Nostromo. Try to turn it off, than chek if game understands your keyboard\mouse properly.
Right now i`m talking to a razor support. trying to understand ho to play darksiders on Nostromo.

I had the same problem and I found a solution for Windows 7 and keyboard/mouse. It might also help with controller, I am not sure.

Go into the "Device Manager" (Control Panel | Hardware and Sound) there in the "Human Interface Devices" disable the 2 "Virtual Hid Devices". I am not sure what the "Virtual Hid Devices" do, but the game works now.

I have win 7 too and under 'device manager' I had to disable 'hid - compliant game controller' now the game works fine for me. I've never had any controller plugged into my machine, never had this issue before with steam games either -- but its an easy fix. :)

The problem is not a controller or Steam, it is the Darkside game. When they ported it to PC they did not pay a lot of attention to controls. It is sad, because I found this solution in a 2 year old posts and people were hoping to get a patch soon. 2 years later and we have the same problems and no patch.

I had to disconnect my Logitech Momo wheel to get it to work. I had already disconnected my wireless Xbox controller's receiver to play Orcs Must Die and hadn't reconnected it.
That's just sloppy programming - I have 100 + games and have never run into this before installing these two games.

This is ridiculous Screw this game. I can't believe such crappy workarounds are needed. Sad. Really sad. And clearly there will never be a fix.

I have the same issue. I tried to disable something called HID COMPLIANT GAME CONTROLLEr and instead it crasehd my logitech G13 game pad. i was able to get the character to attack but not move with the analog.

Okay, i fixed the problem. Now it's works for me. I can controll.
I charged my PS3 controller in my PC when i wanted to play last time. I pulled out and now the controll is working with mouse and keyboard. The button layout is showed in keyboard and mouse too so now can be change the layout. So if somebody have this problem just pull out every other controller except the mouse and keybord and it must work.
