The Blob
The blob is a tad.....BS, on top of the difficulty, I find that there are quite a few too many times where the boss takes an opportunity to chuck bullcrap at you. For instance, there are times when it will spawn nothing but Whirlers, which, while by themselves aren't that bad, but if I pop them too early, as you know, they spawn eggs.

However, on top of that, the Blob likes to hurl those bubbles of acid or whatever at me, at the same time as I'm attempting to deal with the whirlers and their eggs.

As you may have imagined, this makes for a VERY short boss attempt, as the sheer number of eggs/bubbles makes it impossible to avoid getting swarmed.

Then there's the opposite side of the spectrum, where it will take a few turns to just sit there, spitting goop on the floor, chucking the odd bubble, certainly, but not doing much else.

Thirdly, the opening with which you use to chuck grenades seems like it doesn't arrive often enough to allow for a boss kill within a reasonable amount of time.

Note that, to me, this is the only boss in the game that really needs some tweaking, and the game is quite enjoyable otherwise.

Thanks for reading.

Few tips from my PoV:

1) The Molotov works especially well in dealing with lots of mobs
2) Rapid Fire is a must if you don't already have it by now
3) The Tomahawk is aslo especially useful in this encounter as you can throw them quite far

Thanks for the feedback though and we'll see if others are having issues too.

So do I. This blob is such a pain !

Yup, I'll have to agree. Its really easy to be overwhelmed if the attack pattern goes into acid blobs + whirlers + spider eggs.
Plus having to deal with spiders during the limited time available to grenade the blob means I either choose to die to spiders, or miss the grenade chance and die to something else.

I like to play him with the shock grenade, to clear out his whispy attack that buffs enemies, plus the electricity has a longer effect so it helps clear things out in general. Also like to use exploding ammo, I save it and shoot it one by one to clear groups of spiders/spider eggs on the ceiling and other mobs in general. This tends to maximize the combo meter fairly quick as well, giving me an opportunity to resupply, heal, etc...An upgraded tomahawk is very useful too, high damage and it pierces enemies when upgraded.

Enough for me with this boss, I delete this game.

hi ,the blob in new game plus, any grenade tips for him?

Keeping some piercing shot plus explosive on hand for this fight is a help. Piercing for the bubbles, explosive to combo and clear the ground units. land mines for getting overwhelmed.

thank you!

Jeah i just bought the game and most if it was hard but alright, the blob on the other hand is non sense, when he shots the green bubbles plus enemy spawn you can shoot both at the same time, i gave up on finishing the game after many failed trys.
Just beat that annoying thing after whole hour of trying different setups.

I beat it with this:

Passive: Max fire rate, Max cooling , Red cell shot (extra starting heatlh) just 1 upgrade is enough and Lucky Charm.

Dark matter glove: Use when the blob is spawning mobs and throwing those green balls at the same time, or when you overheat weapon.

Molotov cocktails (2 killed it for me, 5 will kill it if you hit 0 bullets): use *only* !!!!!!! (I explain later why) when the blob is healing and The grenade prompt appears. You have 2 seconds to throw the molotov and the damage is huge, so clear out the remaining green stuff or spawned spiders, it's better than to risk dying.
Edit: On + the interval is similar but spiders are spawned from the ground sometimes, so be prepared to clear them out quickly before throwing, or you're dead. And of course the blob has much more heatlh. I had to use 6 molotovs and continuous shooting.

Piercing rounds with cluster mod: To clear the ceiling if there are too many spider eggs.
Edit: On + the mobs spawned are considerably bigger (less acids as well) and the spiders on the ceiling are less dangerous. You can safely unleash a couple of these when mobs start spawning, useful as well when those green balls are flying at you at the same time. Since the waves last longer save the dark matter glove for the very last second, or else you'll be dead.

Lucky Charm will help getting bonus faster. You'll need for some extra health. Prefer leech on kill, it'll save you if you make a mistake. If you have full health and a wave just started spawning go for airstrikes and rocket drones. Gun drone is going to be useless anything else is better. If you get frenzy of course always go for frenzy in this case.
So basically prefer these bonus: 1-health 2-steal health 3-airtstrike 4-rocket drone

It's not effecient to use grenades for these mobs because they spawn so close to you, and most of them are acid, so if you time your shots right you'll get a chained explosion and clear the mobs instantly, just have max fire rate and max cooling. When your weapon overheats or you are overwhelmed use dark matter glove. When he is healing and grenade prompt appears throw a molotov in there. Keep a steady rate of fire but don't let it overheat before mobs are even spawning and if you use the dark matter glove too soon it's just a death sentence.

The Blob def took some tries in the regular game, but I have been REALLY struggling to beat this boss on Challenge mode. Would really appreciate any tips. Has anyone here been able to do it with the $2000 loadout limit?

Just get the chainsaw, rapid fire, and molotovs. Always keep a molotov as its base when enemies are spawning. Use the chainsaw to block blobs when you need to cool down your gun. Then rapid fire and the heat cooldown upgrades take care of the rest. A little bit of piercing ammo for emergencies isn't a bad idea either.

Chuck a molotov in it's grenade opening too. Works well.

Once I figured out that boss I found the game much easier. It got me trained up to go after the various monsters coming at me after that.

After 200K failed attempts, having tried all kind of grenades suggested, from the normal ones to the molotov, i wanted to experiment cause was desperated, so i tried the SHOCK Grenades, well, maybe was luck but i killed it at first attempt, i think Shock grenades kick a.. against this Boss, give it a try. :shockjockey:

Got SUPER lucky with my combo bonus and had the rocket drone. Somehow melted the blob in super fast time. A couple of frenzy buffs as well.
Other than that, my load out is max rapid fire, max ventilation, luck, extra health. With normal rounds and explosive rounds with cluster mod. And molotovs and max throwing axe as secondary.
