I hear you man. Destroying sections of the boss will reward you credit you can spend on items you need. The reward is modest on purpose, people could be driven to farm it for credit otherwise. It can be a hard balance to nail but testing showed this to be the sweet spot. I'll definitely keep an eye out though and make adjustments if required.
Thanks for your feedback!
A seriously amazing game with a glaring issue here.
Armour piercing ammo does the trick on those.
While I didn't have much trouble with this boss (and cleared it on my first attempt) that was largely becasue I had been hoarding the required items up until that point (something not every player is going to have the foresight to do).
Experiment 7 is so far giving me a headache due to no apparent way to interupt his attack (essentially meaning that I inevitably die near the beginning of the fight since there's no way to avoid taking damage).
In main menu, hit escape to start a new game. I suggest you try farming the Crawler for a bit though, shouldn't be long untill you can restock or buy new items.
Yup as Dr. Marker said, piercing ammunition will do the trick. Also upgraded throwable secondary items like the knife and tomahawk.
Dr. Marker, try using the riot shield to block his gun attacks :)
So the marker that previously denoted an interuptable attack is now being used, without variation, to denote an attack that cannot be interupted and which the only way to survive (I'm assuming) is the use of an item you can't guarentee that every player has thought of purchasing or equipping (and with no signal or indication that this is the intended way to do the fight).
I realise that there's no polite way to say this but this is rather poor and unintuitive design.
You have a point about the exclamation mark being used in different circumstances, it's a warning sign for an incoming high damage attack but I can see how previous encounters could give you some false assumptions about what to do.
I hope you guys fix this, or give some sort of clue or have a small hint system on bosses or areas like this if you're going to throw a wrench into gameplay like requiring a finite item source that you very well could not be able to have/purchase because you spent all your money trying other solutions.
Seriously, I LOVE this game. Great soundtrack, amazing sprite/art work, fun gameplay with only a few minor hiccups. Address certain situations like this and you'll be golden.
There's no reason an Xbox One player like myself had to get on the Steam discussions just to figure out how to beat a required boss.
I do want to make it clear I do overall enjoy your game and I'm not just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on your work (overall, a great game plagued by only a few balance issues).
