Honestly, considering how Carpocalypse Now and TDR were received for their career modes, they definitely would greatly benefit from a remake. Reincarnation/Max Damage were effectively both reboots and remakes of the original Carmageddon.

Though it might be very unlikely to occur considering that car combat games are pretty niche.

Sadly Carmageddon has no developer since THQ Nordic bought and THQ Nordic's parent company are busy selling off and closing tons of their studios so a new Carma likely isn't going to start development any time soon and probably won't be Max Damage 2 if they do get a developer to start making it.

Max Damage is pretty mod friendly, though, especially using the beta patch. Check out the awesome work done by STShotgun on their Overhaul mod and 80'S TimeWarp on their prolific car collection.
