Steering is absolutely god awful
I took a quick peak in the opitions and I'm not seeing a way to fix this.

Feels like I'm trying to turn a brick by spitting on it. Is this just a keyboard problem or is it a flaw with the game itself?

There's likely a PEBKAC, so it's very hard to fix…

LMMFAO !
Just wow, it never ends.
I'm not a "PC purist" ( I do use a controller) but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way the cars are coded in this game. The cars handle exactly as intended.
Practice , practice and more practice is all that is needed. But once you get it, there is a lot of fun and mayhem to be found !

You are COMPLETELY correct! I remember playing the original on my huge CRT monitor back in the day with keyboard and mouse. Everybody wants instant gratification when starting a new game. I remember how frustrating it was starting out, but I LOVED the concept. Ended up finishing the entire game and getting all the cars! This game is making me re live that awesome moment of my life. <3

They steer just like the classic carma.
the good ol' lords of yesterday was best. (hint: no, having handling based on a 90's game 25+ years later because "that's how the classic game was" isnt a good sell point.)

not after games like burnout takedown, wreckfest and flatout came out..
having these handling files and an option, yeah, good idea!

this game isnt strong enough (as in fun to play) to just wing that away. sales and ratings prove it.

but hey! you cannot be wrong! you finished the damn slog.

lol.

go play in multiplayer and tell me the game's worth your money. and, btw, early supporter here.

Players who find the handling shall we say "challenging" should try to remember that this is NOT a bona-fide racing game. The cars do handle as intended in this game, selling point or not. The cars in this game do not drive themselves. There is a learning curve. But it really isn't that hard to learn.
Mayhem and killing your opponents is the name of the game in Carmgeddon. Always was.

Multiplayer is dead, it was DOA because of several factors, none of which had a thing to do with the car handling.

I'll add my two cents. I played the hell out of Carmageddon 2 back in the day, and yes, the steering takes some getting used to, but this game is very faithful to the older Carmas in how the vehicles handle. That means to someone used to more mainstream racing games, they may feel sluggish and stiff. But that's all part of how this game works. Especially with the more offensively-minded cars, that tend to be heavy and slow to get to speed or turn, but smash through things easily.

Now, I remember when I wanted a zippy, maneuverable car in 2, I'd drive the Purple Piledriver, but I'm not sure if that's in this or not. That thing was made of tinfoil, but it had a good mix of speed and handling when I wasn't looking to blow up all the other cars.

I played the hell out of Carma 2 and I do not remember it being this hard to control the car. It feels like I'm spinning out of every turn.

@Casual Guy: Guess your memory is playing a prank on you. Try it again and you'll see.

I have no problems, It plays like classic carmageddon and I love the game, I just wish they would pay more attention to it and give it new maps and new cars without the need for mods.

Yes, there are dozens of threads and reviews complaining about how bad the handling is, because it really is terrible. But Stainless doesn't care, sadly.
