How to counter the ZED spell? Counter spells spoiler alert

First of all I thought the ZED curse can be counterd, instead of being broken by breaking the sandglass, because:
At the Path Of statues there is a hint that RES, the resurrection spell couters ZED. And also in the MIRROR TOWER of the East College, my reflection, who speaks opposite to what I said, also answered the ressurection spell when asked about ZED. And I found a bloody tower filled with RES spell, in which EILMON, the WHALE GOD, who produce holy water from its dead body.
I thought I might counter the curse here. But I cannot cast the ZED spell there, the stars were not enough. Can somebody help?:steamsad:

I don't believe this is possible, it doesn't counter it even if you drink the Holy Water after casting RES at the doors, this could be a side effect of how ZEd works story-wise as explained by Throben.

There is, however one more way to get rid of ZEd when you already have it outside of the hourglass method.

But the saying that "all magic can be countered" has been told many times in the story, so I believe there should be a way to counter ZEd when it was cast. What if I try to kill myself in the bloody whale tower and then cast the ZEd spell? How about I drink the poison which I took from Vik's brother in Khare? Has anyone tried that?

You can't manually counter the ZEd curse that has already been put on you unless I've missed somthing huge (again, presumably due to the way ZEd works as explained by Throben lore-wise), the only ways to remove it once you already have it are the hourglass and the other special way (not a counter-spell either) unless I've forgotten something. Of course, RES can be used to counter ZEd in other locations, but not on yourself.

The poison would probably do nothing special except killing you (after which you would revive with ZEd if you had it) if you could find a way to drink it, but I don't think you're even allowed to just drink poison without any reason story-wise.

Yeah I understand how ZEd works now. RES does counter ZEd at the very time it was cast, but I didn't cast RES ( also didn't allowed to) immediately when Throben cursed me with ZEd, so the 1st ZEd took its effect at that time point. And according to its working logic: ZED just take effect at the very beginning and the very end. And when I die I can't cast RES, so any ZEd I cast will be the 2nd ZEd and the time in between will collapse. Therefore there is no way to counter the whole ZEd spell again with RES while I'm alive.

BUT, however, do you remember the bloody whale tower I said before? the one filled with RES spell. If I somehow find a way to die in that tower, does it mean that I will no longer be able to cast ZEd again? Because as soon as I cast it, RES will surround me and counter it. therefore there will no longer be a 2nd ZEd to take effect, and I will be trapped in that tower, resurrected, and die again, like other undead corpses, and there will be no way to continue the game except rewind from the big gate of Mampang.

Oh my god what a thrilling theory!
I haven't found a way to kill myself in that tower to prove the theory yet, by the way.
