I got past the chapter 9 barrier without meeting the heart requirements

Is this new news? has this been done before? I kinda just spammed wavedash until I got enough speed and zipped across the gap before the pillar shot down (you can die to reset the animation)

its been known since the day chapter 9 released. its used very often by speedrunners and goldeners, and its biggest application is being able to get the true ending with only 4 crystal hearts, which doesn't sound very large until you remember that it means skipping the b-sides.

this actually happened to me as well when I first played farewell. Kind of a cool trick, but I'd recommend getting the hearts first, since everything past that gate expects you to have played all that, and so there's quite the difficulty spike. You'll just have to see for yourself.
