PS4 controls recommend
That mechanic controls in 8 directions too. The analog stick does not give any real advantage.
As far as controls go, I had no issue with their control setup as it was so you should be golden. Hopefully you enjoy the game! I wanna run through it (campaign) again myself and eventually get to the bonus stuff.
The feather? Totally analog control. It's not locked to 8-way.
Playing on a controller definitely feels more natural. The first hour or so on a keyboard is a little hard to get used to, ZXC and arrow keys feel slightly awkward at first.
After a while, I'd say your input option doesn't matter. There's no analog input in the game afaik; all movement is in one of 8 directions, so if anything keyboard is better in that respect. It's easy to accidentally diagonal dash with a joystick.
So overall I'd say either is fine! If you have a controller, go ahead and use it. If you don't, use a keyboard; it won't hinder you at all! :)
I found that default controls were tough to get used to, so I set dash as /, space as jump, LShift as climb/grab, and enter as select.
Never had a problem afterwards.
