Keyboard or controller?
I'm using a keyboard but the game only shows what to press on a controller for the tutorial so is the game telling me that I should use a controller or is a keyboard just as good?

Keyboard 100% !! IMO
More precision, faster pressing.

The game likely shows those prompts for you have a controller connect, or you've chosen so in settings.

How come?
If it's the layout, you can always remap or change your keybinds.

i used to use controller, but sometimes i mistaken the dash direction,so i use the keyboard now.

I would also recommend using a keyboard; controllers are nice for couch gaming and games that have analog controls, but nearly all controls in Celeste are binary (i.e. you're either moving in a direction or you're not, you're either jumping or you're not, etc.). A keyboard, even most cheap ones, still beats out a high-end controller in how tight the controls and tactile feedback are.

That said, a big part of it is what you're used to. I've played a lot of games with just a keyboard in the past, so keyboard feels natural to me. Some people seem to swear by a controller.

If you are comfortable with precision inputs with a controller (angling for diagonal dashes) feel free to, because the feathers allow 360 movement with a controller, otherwise i would recommend keyboard (this is what i use) it is much easier to press the buttons you want as a set pattern instead of a vague area to move the stick to, i tried controller and the dashes keep screwing up although thats likely mostly due to my own lack of skill with one.

i used to play with controller, but when i tried to change to keyboard, because i wanted to do more advanced stuff, i just couldn't get used to the standart celeste controls, so i tried to replicate the controller layout as good as possible, and when i used my numpad for dashing / jumping and the arrow keys for movement, everything worked perfectly fine

Both are totally viable for all the A and B sides, but once you reach the C-Sides its very difficult to progress with the controller. Using WASD and 123 numpad worked really well, and although its awkward at first, its much better in the long run.

The feather is very hard and frustrating to use on keyboard. That's the only big difference i can think of. Aside from that it's really only preference in terms of comfort.
