Is it okay to give up at some point?
That's the question that doesn't let me put Celeste on my games-I-won't-play-anymore shelf. No matter what I do - hide it in my Steam library, avoid related articles and whatnot - it'll still pop up somewhere. A friend shares an article or a Pico-8 spin-off, YouTube recommendations suddenly give me a vid on some crazy Celeste WR, etc. And each time it sets off a certain feeling. That I am not cool yet, that something is amiss.
But after beating A-, B- and C-sides, Farewell and Moon Berry (and something else I don't remember) I don't find anything I am willing to achieve. All those golden berries are way too above my patience and skill. And yet there's that gnawing feeling that I didn't do good enough, that I am a loser by giving up on golden berries.
actually there's the same thing with A Hat in Time and its own challenges, but it's off-topic, so just to mention that it's not bound to a particular game

Is it okay to stop and give up? To just say that some challenge is not meant for you and move on?

although you can do that, id say you should give some modded maps a try. maybe mapping or something related. just because you're not a skilled player doesn't mean you shouldn't play the game, if you dont enjoy it then dont play it.

It's really up to you. If you really want to finish it though, i recommend doing practice runs in other savefiles and taking regular breaks.

stop playing m8

You do your own challenge.

I like difficulty and challenge, but the golden berries are something i'm NOT willing to put myself into. I know where to draw my own line and limits, so you should too.

I'm sure both of us can beat those challenge, with lot of practice of patience, but for me, it's not something i'm willing to put my time into.

My own line is : the moment i simply have 0 fun in doing something in a game, then i just don't do it. Whenever others think it's cool or not, cowardly or not, i give 0 f*ck.

You beat the A B and C Sides and Farewell, you've pretty much beat the game as far as I'm concerned man! No need to play it further if you don't want to.

I myself might complete C-sides and get the moon berry but I would never get the golden strawberries. So personally I'm fine with it

Pfft, it's ok to stop after Epilogue. No need to keep going if you don't wanna. Unlike what people might seem like, there's hardly anyone out there that's gonna call you a loser for not beating literally everything and those same people are elitist pricks, so enjoy the idea that you've accomplished what you have and see the sun behind the clouds :epiwink:

It is always okay to give up on a challenge you can't complete, you won't be a loser for it. After all, nobody can do anything and everything.

It's completely fine and I wouldn't call it 'giving up' because if you don't want to do that and don't find enjoyment and or find it's for you then why do it! Completing B and C side and getting the moon berry are challenging enough and I can't say the amount of times I died trying to do these, the achievements even show that others found this challenging too!

Do what makes you happy and don't make comparisons of your play through to others, your play through is unique and sure maybe you didn't get the 0.00001 second world record but you beat the game and that's something I'd be proud of!

Find your next mountain to climb :)

It's ok, it was taking a very long time for me to get the top.

Don't push yourself to play if you don't feel like it. If you've done all you wanted to do in the game, there's nothing at all that's forcing you to keep playing except yourself. ANd if that's the case, tell yourself to go ♥♥♥♥ itself.

I'm not a speedrunner, myself. I have no interest in trying for that WR. And if that's not your jam, don't feel upset or anything because you saw another insane WR get posted. Feel secure in what you've done already, and leave it at that. If you eventually want to come back, that's fine. Maybe you can make a PB on speedrunning yourself, or maybe one of those golden strawberries seems actually doable this time around. Who knows? But it's YOUR choice. Not anyone else's.

A-Side, B-Side, C-Side, and Farewell, plus the achievements. IF you've done that, that's all you NEED to do, for the most part. Anything else is icing on the (golden/strawberry) cake.

As Sky said, find your next mountain to climb. And as my own addendum: Don't be afraid to re-climb this one if you feel like it.

You should play Dark Souls next, if you haven't played it already.

You aren't forced to play what you don't want.
You can freely loose this part of the game, don't push your skill, this will just make you frustrated. If you still enjoy the game, you can try the modded maps! If you already finished Farewell and the C-sides, the modded maps don't will push your skill level to much
