Celeste does not launch on steam
Hello,

I just bought the game celeste and I wanted to launch the game so I could play it and see if everything worked fine. But when I launch the game, I get an error log file:
Ver 1.4.0.0
08/10/2024 13:24:51
System.Exception: FMOD Failed: ERR_OUTPUT_INIT
à Celeste.Audio.CheckFmod(RESULT result)
à Celeste.Audio.Init()
à Celeste.GameLoader.LoadThread()
à Celeste.RunThread.RunThreadWithLogging(Action method)

I've already tried repairing the game on steam, uninstalling/reinstalling, rebooting my pc. I understand that you need to install OPEN GL BETA but I don't know where to download it.

I use voiceemeter to manage my sound on the PC. When I deactivate my headset on voicemeeter the game works normally. If I reactivate my headset the error reappears. I suppose the problem is related to the sound. But I must confess that I don't understand any of this.

If you have a procedure so that I can fix my game, that would be great.

Thanks in advance

Here's another possible solution from one of the devs, from another topic made by someone who had the same issue :

Hey,

Try updating your audio drivers. If that doesn't work, try disabling various audio devices or trying different ones. This error is because our Audio engine, FMOD, wasn't able to start.

It's strange that the developers haven't patched this problem with the sound. How can other people play this game?
I'm not sure how much control the devs have over the audio engine they use, maybe they don't have enough to be able to fix the issue?
Most players don't have this issue. It's a rare enough issue that i usually forget what the possible solutions are by the time the next topic about it is made.

To switch to the OpenGL beta branch, go to your Library -> Right-click on game -> Properties -> Betas, then click the "None ⌄" dropdown box and select the option called "opengl - opengl".

Thanks for the information. I tried to change to "open gl - open gl" but it still doesn't work. It's strange that the developers haven't patched this problem with the sound. How can other people play this game?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

in fact, the error message is always the same after changing to open gl. I'm going to try and update my audio drivers, even though I think they're already in their latest version, as my PC is almost brand new.

I tried to update the audio drivers but it still doesn't work. I tested with my usb headset without connecting it to voicemeeter and it works. I'll have to play this game like that. Thanks again for the help and if anyone finds a solution don't hesitate to update this post.
