Honestly, why is wind an mechanic in this game?
I just find wind to be really unfun mechanic.
Why would someone want to restrict players movement, in a game about movement?

Restricting the player's movement can be used to force unique solutions. Wind is only one small example of it. You could say the same about the game not giving you unlimited dashes. Plus there are several instances where the wind is actually beneficial to the player and rooms would be either harder or straight up impossible without it.

Wind is a terrible mechanic in pretty much every game it's in, and here it's no exception.
At least the sections with upwards wind are fun, though those are few in numbers.

When it works with you, it can bring something nice to the game. But the extremely fast winds, it makes the game extremely frustrating and movement feeling really sluggish. Not fun. Not at all. And those rooms which have wind, where designed with wind in mind.

I mean all rooms that have wind were designed with it in mind. I personally tend to like wind because of how it forces you to utilize your dash as a basic form of movement rather than simply walking forward as well as having certain unique quirks like spike jumps or spamming crouch to walk faster. I know it's certainly one of the least popular mechanics though.

Maybe because like everything else in the game, it's about overcoming the struggles you have and/or meet along the way.

It's frustrating, ok. But all that matters is : how will you overcome this ? And I see that as a good decision, even a clever one given the general topic of the game.

"It's about the struggle" as an excuse to explain the frustrations and unfun mechanics gets old fast.
How do people explain the Bumpers? What about everything about Chapter 8?
Wind is very annoying, yes, but at least it's only used in a really bad way in 4B and 4C, I think (as in, strong winds coming out of nowhere); I might be mistaken but I think the winds in 4A are either constant or occasionally get "turned on and off" with a predictable timer in some screens? What I don't like is having a strong gust of wind coming from out of nowhere in such a way that the player has no idea to know it's coming, but at least the alternate levels are shorter, which kinda makes it an excuse (plus you don't even have to play through those to see the ending anyway). Still not fun.
But the Bumpers and Core Blocks are a whole other beast. I will simply never understand how someone thought having Bumpers swaying back and forth was a good idea, especially when that actually affects your trajectory when you hit them. It's the equivalent of throwing spaghetti at the wall until it sticks.

Keep complaining. It will certainly change anything. Don't worry. :celeste_mountain:

Using the game mechanics to tell a story is an neat idea. I did find myself enjoying the quiet times more, when I did not have wind blowing me of a cliff. But after a while, it does get stale.

IMO, it's just like granny says "It's funny how we get attached to the struggles". Wind is frustrating. Bumpers are frustrating. A lot of things are easily making me angry whenever I play for a long time. Because it's unfair, difficult, frustratring, that's why I am doing it.

Like climbing the mountain. Like it has been stated when you launch your first run of the game.

Like Madeline on the first steps, I want to prove myself something. So I am doing all the game without assist, no cheat. But that's personal. You do you.

And If someone really complains about the difficulty or the frustation that person is getting from the game, well, nobody force them to play it. Nobody prevents them from using assist mode.

I just found it very funny when people highly dislike something when they were totally advertised about it on the first place and yet come to complain about it.

To be honest, literally the only mechanic is find unfun is the wind. Everything else is just fine.

This I agree with. The atmosphere in Chapter 4 is really, really good, and in the first half of Chapter 5 as well (and also the first section of Chapter 6, where you start in the water until the music changes). If the game had more of those contemplative moments, it would certainly have elevated itself even more for me.

One thing I think was very poorly-designed in Chapter 4 was the Crystal Heart. People can use the excuse that "it's a cute reference" or that "it's meant to be obscure", but no other Crystal Heart in the game requires outside knowledge to obtain. This was so bad that they had to add statues of Madeline crouching next to the block as a hint, but they're easy to miss as they're the same color as the background. A reference like that ends up being a shortcoming when it's completely disconnected from everything else in the game; even the Chapter 1 Crystal Heart is relevant later on, but the one in Chapter 4 really felt like they didn't know what to do and decided to just shoehorn the SMB3 reference in with no reason or rhyme.

it is literally a fun and interesting game mechanic.

Yeah I don’t get why wind is much of a problem, it’s a cool mechanic that forces the player into certain scenarios… imo there’s worse things to complain about

I don’t even know why I’m wasting time replying to this lmao

I love wind, golden ridge is easily my favorite level in the game, B and C sides included, and it's fun when used in summit as well.

Sounds like a skill issue. I find every chapter's hardest mechanics are just that - difficult. You're supposed to be overcoming obstacles, not whining and giving up. Pretty sure that's what the whole game is about.
