madeline is an mtf trans character, and was also named before the developers decided that was canon. actually only ended up being part of the story after the farewell dlc was released, the majority of the game was developed with the idea of her being cis-female in mind.

as others have said already, maddy is a mtf trans person, and that is why she is named madeline. if you are confused about her pre-transition name (deadname), i imagine it was some masculine name. however please do not refer to any trans people by their deadnames as it can be very offensive and harmful. hope this helped clarify any confusion

The hilarious part of this is that it isn't technically even biologically true.
Yeah there are only x and y chromosomes but the actual expression of genes relating to sex/gender are surprisingly disconnected from xx or xy.
I am aware that this was likely a troll but I though that the fact was interesting that biology is complicated completely aside from mental stuff!

now when you say gene expression of the sex chromosomes are you referring more to x chromosome deactivation in somatic cells or more towards germ lone cells and meiosis leading to things like klienfelter syndrome?

I've also always found this as an extremely interesting topic as a trans girl myself. I've always wondered where the actual idea of identifying as a different sex/gender from what you were born with even came from. Was it always like that, or is it the result of people slowly experimenting with who they were?
