need good advice to get good good
So, as the title implies, I want to get good at this game.

I see deep value in training my gaming skills at Celeste Mountain, because I'll be training several key aspects present on many games: reaction time, memory, map analysis, and most importantly: Patience.

I know that if I simply keep playing I'll get good enough, but I'm not here to play, I'm here to train.

So I need good advice about efficiently getting good. Tactics, optimized thought processes, and whatever comes to mind that helps me learn faster, and get better skills.

I'll be here waiting for a reply.

training is playing so basically if you want to get better you HAVE to play the game. It's not that easy but you'll get used to it.

Getting better skills requires playing, but if by "tactic" and "optimized thought processes" you mean figuring out how to go through rooms, then perhaps someone could give you some detailed advice.
While i myself am very good at that, i'm not sure how to deconstruct my process in detail, so i only have very unspecific advice to give, which might not be very helpful :
See what the level design suggests you should do. How should you go through the room so that it feels like what you're supposed to do?
If something feels awkward/requires being more precise than usual for the level, it usually means you're doing something wrong.

When you can't figure out any way to go through a room, it's important to try remember applicable "tricks" you know of that might open new possibilities.

I know of something I really need to practice: neutral wall jumps. I've been attempting to climb the tutorial ledge with those, and I can't consistently do it right.

Sometimes I do it and I gain height, sometimes I just fall and sometimes I screw it at the top.

Mastering this technique would allow me to navigate all levels in a different way.

In the meantime, I think your advice will be helpful. Knowing what to do is an important step in the doing.

Is it possible you might be attempting them a bit early? I only learned how to do those after completing most of the game.
I do *think* that what gave me trouble was the unclear explanation i had of how to do them.
In case you too got a unclear explanation, i'll attempt to explain :
To do a neutral walljump, you need to press jump while against a wall without pressing any directional button. Since you can't do a neutral walljump while holding grab, this means you'll effectively be pressing only the jump button.
You're effectively alternating between pressing the directional button towards the wall and the jump button, but never both at once.

I think the thing that caused me trouble in the explanation i got was the fact that it said "when jumping away from the wall", which implies you need to hold the directional button away from the wall when jumping, which isn't true.

oh well i've had some experience with this game, but it was mostly runs with assist mode.
my limit for a normal playthrough is stage 5. i'm trying to improve in general, tho.
thanks for the explanation, i guess i have to work on my coordination, because i tend to press the keys too quick, so the inputs get mixed and i jump too far away from the wall.
