look at my video for reference , its kinda hard to explain how you need to do the wave dashes exactly , its mostly muscle memory imo
from that point foward the game will get even worse. consider that room as a practice room because you will have to wavedash a lot
I remember when I was first trying to wavedash, I pressed jump too quickly after I dashed into the ground. You have to time it properly. Just keep practicing, and you will eventually learn the timing. So make sure you aren't pressing dash and jump at the same time. Jump, dash diagonally towards the ground, and THEN press jump.
Even if you can only do it half the time, there will be other stages where you can practice it. Don't give up! You can do this!
yeah same, i just couldnt do it , now i am doing a new playthrough and i wavedash all the time to save time
Same when you do the second dash. Aim for a distance of about 1-2 heights before dashing into the ground again.
You can use it as training-wheels. Set the game speed down low, turn on hold-dash, and lab out how to do it. When you feel comfortable, turn it off again and see if you can do it again for "real".
There's a lot of great advice in this thread, but nobody said what I feel is the most important thing: don't be ashamed for not getting it right as quickly as others, and don't be ashamed for taking a gimme from the game for a while. The game is introducing a technique that literally was not planned for until speedrunners found out it could be done, something no casual player was expected to do. Take it easy and please don't see the game offering help as something to be ashamed of.
Nice time, by the way. I can feel your determination from here.
