Celeste does not start the game...
It launches but I have been stairing the start screen with a mountain for an hour. I play the music and snow flakes flow, but it seems it stopped there. I use macOS Big Sur 11.5.2. Celeste ver. 1.4.0.0

yes lol there is a c in the bottom right, it is an indication to press "C" on you keyboard. I made the same mistake my first time playing, lol

Everyone thought that the c prompt at the corner was for copyright, and not a "press c to start"

Happy climbing now, fellow traveller

HI. Thx for your replies. I still struggle to start the game. there's no 'C' on the bottom right corner. I see a question mark instead. Although I remember there was 'C' once when i last time tried. I thought it was for copyright, too. I tried every key on my keyboard this time including SHIFT + any key and mouse buttons. When is the C going to appear?

The question mark instead of the "C" is somewhat strange.
Maybe there's a problem with the settings file located in home/.local/share/Celeste/saves?(this is a Linux path, might not be the same for you)
The simplest possible solution that comes to me would be to move that file somewhere else, then launch the game again, and see if "C" works that time.

Wait, what? I don't think that file could even be related to the problem. Maybe the game just required a restart? In any case, your problem is fixed, so good luck and enjoy the game!

I played a bit and saved the game. I see the question mark again. Now there are three files - 0.celeste, settings.celeste, steam_autocloud.vdf. I tried starting without those files in Saves folder, each of them and all of them. I never see the C mark. Now what?

Maybe try restarting your computer/Celeste? I've had maybe similar issues in the past where that helped. (The file named 0.celeste should be your savefile, if you move it away, it won't appear when you launch the game successfully, so it's best to keep it there.)
