Everyone thought that the c prompt at the corner was for copyright, and not a "press c to start"
Happy climbing now, fellow traveller
Maybe there's a problem with the settings file located in home/.local/share/Celeste/saves?(this is a Linux path, might not be the same for you)
The simplest possible solution that comes to me would be to move that file somewhere else, then launch the game again, and see if "C" works that time.
You are my champion! the file path was ~/Library/Application Support/Celeste/Saves/steam_autocloud.vdf i moved the file to elsewhere. and it seems i now can start. thx
