What do A, B, C sides mean?

I keep seeing references to sides and not sure what people are referring to

Secret tapes hidden in each level unlock B sides which are harder versions of each chapter (accompanied with an awesome remix of the Chapter's music). C sides are unlocked after beating all B sides and are even harder.

It's worth mentioning that the B sides and especially C sides are a lot shorter than the A sides, and they're definitely worth doing if you liked the A sides. But yeah usually best to just finish the base game first.

Thanks for your response. Yeah I've hit a wall at Chapter 3 A side....=(. We'll see how this game goes lol

chapter 3 is insanely hard lol
also i really recommend completing the b and c sides since you get more content for one and you also can unlock some cool things

B sides are separate from game progression and are entirely optional.

Yes, you can do the B-sides whenever you want. You can start on a level's B-side before you even finished the A-side, or you can play them after you've finished the entire rest of the main game.

Also, people forgot to mention IMO the best thing about the B-sides: remixed music! Each B-side remixes the gameplay of the level they belong to, and has a music track that's based on the main level's track but remixed by another game music artist. I thought it was some of most fun the game has to offer in general.
