All pause menu buttons broken

So I recently picked Celeste back up to hopefully finish the C-sides, and I noticed that I can't save and quit in the middle of a level. I also noticed that I can't return to map, or open options... literally all of the selections in the pause menu do nothing when I press them. I recently started playing on my laptop in addition to my desktop so I don't know if it's something weird with steam cloud files.

I tried verifying game files, uninstalling and reinstalling, and clearing the steam download cache. Any ideas? I don't really want to make it past the third room in 7-C and have to redo it if I can't finish the rest of the level tonight :P

Keybinds have reset because of the last update, so maybe try pressing press "C", I think that's the original keybind for "confirm".

I am an idiot lol it's hard to break the habit of expecting "enter" to select things

I'm still having issues with this. Played the game on release, no problems. Now I've come back, and the A button is pausing the game instead of being jump/select - even though the binds are correct when I go into the button config menus to check (using keyboard and 'C')

What's the pause button bound to?
Have you tried resetting the bindings?
Have you tried verifying the integrity of game files? (Library -> Right-click on game -> Properties -> Local files -> Verify integrity of game files)
